OT: 2012-2013 NBA Discussion Thread: Defense? What is defense?

I'm running out words to describe Reymond Felton. I'm sorry but he is atrocious. He was a BU in Denver & Portland. lol
This isn't a slump either. He NEVER could shoot.

Color me concerned when the playoffs come. I don't trust his decision making in a close/late game.
 
Knicks betrayed by the 3 this game.

Also, considering this thread wanted to kill Novak during his slump, I can't take "Felton is atrocious" posts seriously.
 
The whole team is garbage tonight except for Smith.

Copeland >> Novak. Give the rookie a shot.

You're right, except Smith has been bad after 3 minutes into the 2nd, too. It's the Friday Night Knicks curse.

Cope isn't better than Novak. Wouldn't mind him getting some burn though, since nobody can hit a 3 and I think another penetrator would be good.

Felton has been around awhile. It's pretty much established that he's average. And that's being kind. The game he had in Miami rarely happens. He just can't hit a mid range jumper consistently.

He's already been benched in the 4th qtr. a couple of times.

There's a reason why no one else really wanted him.

It wouldn't surprise me at the end of the season(after the playoffs), we're saying 'the knicks need to upgrade their PG'.

How do we know? Copeland hasn't been given a fair chance and when he did get minutes, he was putting up points consistently while bringing energy on the court. Novak is pretty much garbage when he isn't hitting the 3.

Except "average" is completely different than atrocious. He's in a slump and he's much better than he's been playing recently.

Felton playing average and this game is close. Rest of the team playing average and we're winning. This thread overreacts way too much.

Yeah no kidding...except Novak hits 3's better than anybody else in the league. You're saying this because he missed 2 of his shots.

Cope is fine but I take a guy elite at 3's then the guy who's okay at everything.

Novak is no different than Jason Kapono (when he was half-decent) and he's been bounced around the league.

I really like Copeland's game in my limited viewings of him. Maybe he has untapped potential.

And saying he's 'okay' at everything is an overstatement. He is a very ineffective basketball player.

Copeland isn't a 23 year old kid. He is what he is. He's a decent player and I'd like to see him get burn if he keeps playing like he is, but when we're down 15 I take the guy who'll swing momentum with 3's.

And I said Cope is okay at everything. Novak is bad except at hitting three's, but Cope is only okay at driving, okay at perimeter D, bad at interior D, and meh from 3.

edit- The team as a whole is having an awful game. What a bad pass by Melo. Gonna have to put this one behind us.
 
I'm impressed that Thibodeau gets that team to play defense every game.

Woodson coaches and preaches defense but the Knicks don't play it every game.
One of the reasons why they trailing and probably will lose this game.
 
This is one of the teams the Knicks will need Amare, Sheed, and Shumpert for to beat. They play a tough style. They need bigger bodies, and Shumpert will help defensively. Camby would be good this game. Thomas should be playing more this game.

Also, Felton cannot shoot. Never has been able to shoot. He could be the unraveling of this team, unless his play time goes down when Shumpert comes back and Kidd gets some more run at PG.

Finally! Nice to know I'm not the only one that sees this and acknowledges it could be a problem.

Good teams like the Bulls, collapse and Chandler and DARE Felton to shoot. Why? because he can't. So no PnR...
 
He sure didn't "unravel" the team when he was picking the Nets apart with Tyson in the PnR. :shakehead

No **** Felton isn't great at shooting. But he's not as bad as he's been for the last two weeks. Slumps happen. Coming from guys crying for ****ing Jeremy Lin, who's been awful for 3/4'ths of the season thus far, I just can't take it seriously.

What an inconsistently called game by the refs for both teams. Refs need to stop trying to become a part of the game. ****ing disgrace.

I find he has issues when he is relied on to shoot too much. Limiting his shots is important. Amare would eat into his shots. Right now, he is being relied upon too much. Look at the loss to the Nets. Collapse on Chandler, double Anthony, and make him shoot. They lost that game. Not enough weapons out there. Novak can't shoot cause they collapse, but stay on him. If Felton plays average, the team is fine, but when he is sub-par, the team is out of sync.
 
These refs blow.

How do they let teams play physical and then go all berzerk with calling fouls, especially the technicals?

It's not just the shooting. His decision making is poor. His mentality at times. Doesn't do a great job of getting others involved. etc...

I think Woodson has noticed the same thing. Which is why he has been benched at least a couple of 4th qtr. That Nugget game really stands out....
Kidd is 40 (granted he's a HOF) and does a MUCH better job of running an offense. But you can't rely on him at this stage of his career.

Felton would make a good BU. He was that in Portland & Denver.

The Knicks continue to be hurt by that 09 draft with all those PGs. Too bad Donnie Walsh didn't make a move to get one....Rubio, Curry, Holiday, Jennings but he takes Jordan Hill.:laugh:

I've been wanting the Knicks to actually develop a PG. All of the teams I see do it that way. Unless you acquire an elite PG (Paul, Williams), you need to develop one because the one's that go to become FA's are that for a reason. Most teams lock up starting PGs. It's not that draft alone. Need some kind of leader on offense who can them into sets against these good teams and knock down open shots. I don't see Felton fitting those needs. Developing a PG is the way to go in the league unless you drop money or trade a lot of assets to get one.
 
I think the Knicks misplayed a couple of decisions. Not just saying it after the fact. Called it at the time.
Didn't even attempt to trade up in the 09 draft. By far Donnie's worst decision.
Picking up that option on Billups. They don't pick that up, they still have their Amnesty. Could have used it on Amar'e. Then sign CP3 this off-season. Or spread it out for other players.

Oh well...
 
Guys, Felton is in a slump, ****ing relax. He is a great option for this team, you'll see that tenfold when he starts getting those open looks to drop, and he gets some time with Amar'e in the lineup.

Felton led the way in the 4th and was the reason the Knicks only lost by 4 last night instead of 15.

Want something to complain about? Tell 'Melo to get off his high-horse, put his head down, stop chirping the officials and start just playing the game.
