If the season starts NOW, what are the lines?
I don't think we see Strome or Reinhart this season, but I think a bunch of Soundtigers will make the jump.

Moulson - Tavares - Boyes
Bailey - Nielson - Okposo
Neidereitter - Nelson - Grabner
Martin - Cizikas - Ullstrom/Boulton

MacDonald - Hamonic
Streit - Visnovsky
Carlene - Donovan/Ness

Nabokov
Poulin/Ness
 
I completely forgot about that bum.

Maybe we can use him as a stop gap to let Nelson develop a little more? Would that bump Cizikas to the third line or do we put Reasoner on the third (which I wouldn't be happy with him as our 3rd line center)...

It will be interesting to see what they do with Nino, Strome, Griff, and even Nelson.

I agree, leave them in their respective places. They have already settled in where they are playing. Let's see how Cappy can do with a below average team and maybe by draft time we'll be walking away with a true stud and a legit head coach, just one more year. :laugh:
 
i would be okay with nelson and nino making the team instead of cizikas and ullstrom, it is only half a season and they both have a good amount of confidence and with nielsen, bailey and okposo's defensive skills they can be relied on for more offense and will still be getting sheltered with 2nd/3rd liner's minutes with out being relied on to heavily

I keep getting the feeling that Strome is going to force Cappy to keep him up here. He's been dominant in the OHL and is playing really well in the World Juniors. After the beginning of the season tweaks, I think the forwards end up like this:

Moulson - Tavares - Boyes
Grabner - Strome - Okposo
Nino - Nielsen - Bailey
Martin - Reasoner -Ullstrom

That is one soft-as-hell forward group.

i would not touch nino or nelson...brock is not ready..

Ryan Strome is not eligible to play for the Islanders this season when the lockout ends. There is a list of eligible players playing Juniors that can be called up to the NHL when the lockout ends. The Islanders did not put Strome on that list.

Do you think Boulton could play 4th line regularly? I would go for a non roster invitee if possible. Also I think Nino is ready to play in the NHL

That's right, thanks for posting this ziggy.

I'm glad this is the case because Strome still needs more time to develop physically before making it in the NHL. Plus, his game should expand as he gets bigger and stronger - very much like JT's game did once the man strength started kicking in.

I think we tend to forget that he was the youngest of all the top-5 picks in his draft year. He won't turn 20 until after this year's draft. Unless he hulks up, I'd like to see him start in Bridgeport next season. It'll be up to him how long he stays there, make him earn his spot.

Poor Joensuu and Martin. I do like your 3rd line, tons of speed and defensively responsible. I also like that you haven't included any rookies (Niederreiter, Strome Nelson), very smart, HOPEFULLY management is as smart as you.

On a side note, I can't wait to see Carkner whoop some ass lol

I've been waiting for this since the moment he signed. I know the role of the enforcer is not what it was in the past, but I'm an old schooler. He's the first legitimately feared heavyweight since Cairns that the Isles have had in a while. I'm looking forward to him busting some faces and giving at least a millisecond of pause before someone takes a run at our kids.

IF a contract limit (likely between 7 and 8 years) is set, perhaps DP won't be a problem for the Isles in the near future.

I don't know if you're referring to the people typing his name as Nielson or if you're looking at Brock Nelson and getting confused.
 
I'm having a very hard time looking at lines, I feel like Garth is going to make some moves before the season gets going. It just doesn't seem like we have enough guys.
 
IF Cizkas outplay Reasoner, will Reasoner be released?
