A new top-30 from ISS can be found from their website

I made a comparison between this new ranking and the old one that was released during the summer:
# | Name | +/-
1.| Sean Couturier | 0 |
2.| Ryan Nugent-Hopkins | +4 |
3.| Adam Larsson | -1 |
4.| David Musil | 0 |
5.| Victor Rask | -2 |
6.| Gabriel Landeskog | +5 |
7.| Brandon Saad | 0 |
8.| Matthew Puempel | +4 |
9.| Ryan Murphy | -1 |
10.| Douglas Hamilton | NEW |

Nugent-Hopkins, Landeskog and Puempel have improved their position in the ranking. Hamilton is a totally new player to the top-30. Ranking Larsson 3rd is interesting to say the least, I wonder what’s the reasoning behind it?

# | Name | +/-
11.| Duncan Siemens | -1 |
12.| Seth Ambroz | -7 |
13.| Oscar Klefbom | NEW |
14.| Tomas Jurco | 0 |
15.| Adam Clendening | +6 |
16.| Maxim Shalunov | NEW |
17.| Shane McColgan | -2 |
18.| Boone Jenner | -2 |
19.| Joel Armia | -2 |
20.| Vladislav Namestnikov | -11 |

Ambroz and Namestnikov clearly falling in the ranking. Interesting to see Clendening ranked that high, it could mean that two ‘smallish’ defensemen might go fairly high in the draft, him and Murphy. Maxim Shalunov and Oscar Klefbom are totally new players to the top-30.

# | Name | +/-
21.| Alexandr Khokhlachev | NEW |
22.| Matthew Nieto | -4 |
23.| Daniel Catenacci | 0 |
24.| Joachim Nermark | +5 |
25.| Brett Ritchie | NEW |
26.| Connor Murphy | NEW |
27.| Scott Harrington | NEW |
28.| Alan Quine | NEW |
29.| Patrick Koudys | NEW |
30.| Tyler Biggs | -2 |

A lot of new players here. Nick Shore (13th in the previous ranking), Ty Rattie (19th), Michael St.Croix (20th), Nicklas Jensen (22th), Garret Meurs (24th), Robbie Russo (25th), Anton Zlobin (26th), Nathan Beaulieu (27th), Mika Zibanejad (30th) have dropped out of the top-30.

Some notable omissions from both top-30’s; Jonas Brodin, Dmitrij Jaskin, Lucas Lessio, Jonathan Huberdeau and Austen Brassard.

OHL is great and all, but this is so bang on, and true not just for organisations like ISS, but media coverage of Canadian prospects in general.

i don't remember where exactly i heard this (probably the pipeline show out of Edmonton) but the consensus about the 2011 draft is that its a weak draft but maybe it has something to do with not having a top ohler available in the draft. some good talent like Saad, puempel, the 2 russian and others. but no guy who will challenged for the top3 pick. so the draft get less hyped compared to last year or 2009 with Tavares/duchene or 2008 with stamkos/doughty/bogosian/pietrangelo

its just the begining. A lot of change could happen and the others could challenge the top. In fact, I have a lot of hype for Musil, for me its more a top 4 than a top 3 like you said. Remember that in 2007, everybody talked of Angelo Esposito,Logan Couture and Alex Cherepanov for the top 3 and Patrick Kane was a 3rd rounder in the begining of the year. A lot of thing could change since the draft day. In fact, im 100% sure that their next will be completly different like it happens often.

oh my..what a bad list...i have to shake my head at that one...LOL sorry but that is bad bad bad ,just when i saw Larsson as 3rd on the list, no Michael St Croix, Jonathan Huberdeau, Robbie Russo, no Jensen and Khoklachev as low as 22 and 2 other russians in front him LOL sorry hard to take this list serious.

Oh, just like the media with their coverage of the Leafs and thinking everyone in Canada wants to know about the Leafs 24/7

Don't know about Khokhlachev, but it sure is strange to see Shalunov above Namestinkov. Shalunov has great size and is a good team player, but skill wise Namestinkov seems a lot more promising.

Also it's a bit strange that they have Klefbom ranked as high as 13th. One has to wonder if he's really that much more promising than for example other Swedish defensemen like Brodin and Bengtsson.

I remember reading/hearing about Musil just over a year ago and it was said that it would be a stretch for him to be drafted in the first round, now he's top 5 right behind Larsson!

Anyways thats a strange list and I don't really agree with it.

dont see nothing wrong here. Shalunov has become elite prospect. Khohlachev have been great during preseason games in OHL but is it means that he should be definitely ahead of other russians? however i think his position is really very low but shouldnt!:)

Some one needs to tell ISS that there are more leagues than the OHL
1. Sean Couturier QMJHL
2. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins WHL
3. Adam Larsson SEL
4. David Musil WHL
5. Victor Rask SEL
6. Gabriel Landeskog OHL

No OHL players in the top 5, and Landeskog is a Swede. I dont see how RNH snuck into the #2 spot, but I can see Larsson, and Couturier switching back and forth through out the season. I could also see Frank Musil slipping into #3.
If the Oilers get a top 3 pick it might be a tough call

It seems like they're putting a lot of faith into the results of the 2010 Ivan Hlinka tournament, where Klefbom was the highest scoring defenseman. RNH, Puempel and Nermark all proved themselves quite well there, while Ambroz didn't really dominate.

However, that doesn't explain Lessio or Jaskin not appearing on either top 30, because they were both solid in that tournament.

What's the logic behind Larsson being outside top 2 and St. Croix outside top 30? :amazed:
