I get the Conn Smythe angle, but his 2012 regular season was a clear tier ahead of his 2009 regular season. Scoring had a fairly significant drop from 2009 to 2012

I would agree with that, though I think Malkin and MacKinnon are very close as are Barkov and Kopitar. And if it’s a full season, instead of his ‘2011 to ‘2013 period I’d say Crosby’s 14 would drop below MacKinnon and Malkin.

I think a better argument would be post lockout to 2015, and 2015 onward.

That's when basically all of the key portions of the 2010s group are in their prime anyway, and then you get an even amount of years.

You move Brodeur, Henrik in as goalies.

Maybe move doughty as his peak was right on the divide there. Replace Tavares, Marchand for sure, and replace some other guys with who you want

I would put them in if 2009-10 was included, but imo the cutoff should be 2010-11 as I’d consider a decade 1-10 not 0-9. While Daniel won the Pearson in 2011, they were given a lot of cushy minutes that year and I don’t know if they were quite good enough to make it over the rest here who some brought other elements than scoring. Maybe over Tavares and Benn, but I’d also have Toews over Tavares anyway.

Was thinking about this too, but he was still basically as good as ever the first couple years of the decade, so it probably makes sense if we’re just using these two teams. If we were going back to a 2000s team though, I’d imagine he should probably be on that instead though.

His peak was in 2012. Though 2009 was the start of his peak I'd say. He's better than any 2020 forward outside McDavid for sure.
