2009 Born for the 2025 OHL DRAFT

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Where is Eamon Edgar ranked?? 38pts in 24 games including 24 goals (on Jakko Wysicks team) 2 pts in 2 games in the GOJHL too.

Also late birthday in November so rather than the 2027 NHL Draft he would be eligible for the 2028

Not a clue how big he is.
he’s not very big. May be the third best player on his tram. 2nd round id guess but after the top 10 there are 30 guys who could go anywhere.

the debate started last year with the puck preps list where they had belchetz not as a 1st round pick when he was the 1st overall lock. for whatever reason some online scouts and younger people (i generalize) still love the kyle dubas mentality of skill over everything. take the 5'6 guy who has more skill vs the 6'4 guy who is less skilled but competes hard and wins battles. the online community genearlly speaking loves small skill but doesn't value the bigger guys who may not be as skilled but are way more effective. its the same mentality that suggested that denis malgin for mason marchment was a good trade for the leafs. get the small skill, the big dumb guy isnt as skilled. any they are right, they are not as skilled, but sometimes the compete level is more important when the skill isn't overly competitive.

and just to qualify, its not even a size thing per say, the poster above brought up mbuyi hes not big or small, but he works and never quits, plays in dirty areas and will battle when needed, added to the skill and he's a perfect mix of both. now he never will have the pretty youtube plays like alex hage (remember he was like 4th overall on that list last year) but his work and engine are so big that it doesnt matter.

when your 5'10 and do not have that same engine. it gets harder and harder to be effective. so when you get a guy like belchetz who has the skill but is uber powerful and plays heavy, its an easy call to make.
Does the valuing of guys with size also explain why teams drafted Nathan Villeneuve and Jack Van Volsen instead of Beckket Sennecke?

That’s not the point. No one that suggests valuing size has a 100% hit ratio. There are a lot of smaller players that do very well, but the players that typically end up as dominant playoff performers are players of size AND skill. You typically have to make a commitment to drafting them early (round one and maybe two), otherwise you get players with size and they lack skill to be elite, impact players.

You can very easily value skill over size and hit on solid players more often. No doubt. But, when you do that, you end up with the Ottawa 67’s and no Championship since 2001 while having very highly skilled teams that don’t make it out of round 2…..

Fair statements for sure! These kids will grow though. Some gain 3-4”

Fair… I feel like London has always drafted skills first and it’s worked out okay

I don’t think you can use London as an example for recruiting. They buy almost every defected player as a big part of their recruitment. They bring in NCAA guys. Loads of other opportunities for London. They don’t need to draft big. They get them in other ways that don’t include trade deadline acquisitions.

Sennecke picked his spot and would only report to Oshawa. He was tiny but you saw both parents being 6’1 and 6’4 you knew he’d get to 5’10 at least.

It’s even less about size per se but playing small too. It’s like who do you want, Trevor Zigras or a Tkachuk. Small with bite is totally good, small with soft skill is red flag

They did, you can see it with the parents. Marner was the same. It was Sennecke told everyone he wouldn’t report and no one ahead of Oshawa called them on it
Maybe not expecting 6’3”, but everyone in his family being >6’ was well documented
Good to know. I thought I remembered someone on an NHL Draft board last year saying that his growth spurt was unexpected. Thanks for correcting me

OHL Cup starts today, well the Wild Card games anyway.

Will be interesting to see any movement rankings wise post tournament, though the heavy lifting for the year has already been done.
