Put Vrbata in the AHL and he probably scores a goal a game.

Vrbata is the least of our problems. last night he had some good chances and they didnt go in. Not easy scoring in the NHL.
Agree ... I think you misread my post. I was telling WJF that his suggestion we replace Vrbata with Chris Brown is a ridiculous one.

Disagree. He's big, can skate for his size, lays the body, and is defensively responsible. Not every NHL player has to put up points to be effective. He's definitely more of an NHL player than Chipchura, Halpern, Kennedy, or Bissonnette in my opinion.

Szwarz can develop into a similar player bottom line player without the size. Brown maybe. I don't have any hope for him at all though. Every time I watch Chris Brown play I come away unimpressed. Cant skate or handle the puck to save his life.

I agree totally.

.

He's big. Cant skate very well (balance is terrible), doesnt use his body much. BUT he does score some goals and perhaps I can live with him on the 4th line.:)
Klink has to produce with goals/points because he simply doesnt do enough otherwise.

azcanuck, I think you undervalue Klink's defensive prowess. I think that's why Tippet sometimes has him on the top 6 or 3rd line.

That being said he's hardly an offensive machine and I think on an ideal team he splits time between 3/4 lines. After all, he doesn't play the PP or PK. Only when there's injuries. Still, I don't like Klink top 6, I don't think having a player like him on your top 6 is a good indicator of a forward group. Maybe I'm off base, I've always been kinda hard on him.

Can't skate very well? I think he is a very good skater, is fast, forechecks well, uses his body effectively, goes to the net. Very effective third liner for the money.

Vrbata needs the right linesmate to excel. That's one of the reasons I've been pushing to get Erat (the other is he will only make $2.25mil newt season which would be helpful in re-signing Vrbata). They play the European-puck possession style and needs teammates that play a similar style.

you've probably never played the game.

He's a poor skater by NHL standards. Doesnt skate on both edges very well. Poor balance. Good speed yes but overall not a good skater.
