I expect Vanek to have a good game as he always seems to score against the Lightning.

4-3 Bolts.

Vanek with 2 goals and 1 assist.

It's something in your settings. Are you viewing the mobile version?

no i'm not...but when i go to the bottom left and choose "fixed width" it corrects the problem but then everything is too wide. So I went back to default - just have to deal with it I guess.....For some reason I thought the pics were purposely put that way by the OP - you know I thought it was some kind of new artsy photography that I wsn't understanding

Sabres play 3 solid periods but have 5 mistakes and lose 5-2. Pom gets traded to Pittsburgh. Team is in shock.

Sabres finally change lines and win 1 of their next 7. Details at 11....

Everyone keeps saying we have the same lines... But these lines look different to me than the ones we've seen all year minus the Islanders game...

26 Thomas Vanek ("A") - 19 Cody Hodgson - 29 Jason Pominville ("C")
42 Nathan Gerbe - 63 Tyler Ennis - 21 Drew Stafford ("A")
9 Steve Ott - 12 Kevin Porter - 55 Jochen Hecht
82 Marcus Foligno - 25 Mikhail Grigorenko - 36 Patrick Kaleta

I'd like to see Grigs skating with a better grouping, but looking at our bottom 9 forwards I'm not sure who that would entail him skating with. Ott/Ennis? That would be interesting.

Then again, I'm in favor of breaking up VHP anyways. Trying something like:

26 Thomas Vanek ("A") - 19 Cody Hodgson - 63 Tyler Ennis
29 Jason Pominville ("C") - 25 Mikhail Grigorenko - 9 Steve Ott
42 Nathan Gerbe - 12 Kevin Porter - 21 Drew Stafford ("A")
82 Marcus Foligno - 55 Jochen Hecht - 36 Patrick Kaleta

BUT then again, putting Hodgson AND Ennis on the same line is defensive suicide. Maybe even let Ott skate with that group and put Ennis on Grigs wing.

So what's happened to Marcus? He was a bright spot on your roster last season.. I dont think Gerbe should be in this league, at least not with Sabres..

He's moved away from what works for him -- straight-ahead play, moving the puck quickly to the open man and driving the net, skating hard -- and taken on too much dangle. There are nights when he's acting like the Foligno we've seen since Sudbury and other nights when he looks like he's trying to out-Ennis Ennis. He'll straighten it out.

I agree with the Gerbe thing, although Gerbe has shown more heart than anyone not named Ott or Kaleta as far as skaters go.

Foligno is getting decent chances, but he's dangling too much. I'm not sure it's a death knell on his ability or anything. Just a slow patch. I still think he could be of very positive value to us.

LOL at Gerbe on the 2nd line. Dude has like 6 goals in his last 80 games.

Before you start laughing too hard. That first set of lines is from the OP. Although I'm sure you realized that and were more poking fun of the Sabres using him there than me posting them.

My suggestion is below that :)

Stop winnin' for MacKinnon! Not sure if I'm able to catch this one, but I hope so. Even though watching will probably make me facepalm every second minute.

There isn't any winning to stop. Keep the wheels spinnin' for MacKinnon?

Hey, I never said I want them to do that. Just stating a fact -- if you don't win, you will get MacKinnon.

I can't ever root for one of my teams to stink or lose. But sometimes you're better off being bad than mediocre. Mediocrity begets mediocrity.

But the way I figure it, cheering for your team to lose does nothing for you in the long haul. And besides that, wanting your team to stink just feels... dirty.

So I go with the philosophy of cheering for my team regardless. Whether we go on a run for the ages and somehow make the playoffs, or we wind up with a prospect like MacKinnon, Drouin, Jones, Barkov, etc... There's a silver lining in there.

May as well cheer for the team in the process.

I'll be watching tonight, cheering them on like normal. Hopefully we come out on top in this one :)
