Matthews aside, why is another team trading their center to Buffalo? It doesn't accomplish anything. This is why major trades usually involve quantity or if they are one-for-one they address positional needs which sometimes works out well (Johansen for Jones) but often does not (Hall for Larsson).

So if Buffalo is trading Eichel (which they're definitely not) then it would be for a lesser center + pieces or for a different position.

Yeah exactly. I don't see a realistic scenario how it would be a reasonable trade.

With Matthews I was just trying to establish the value of Eichel. Center of similar caliber would be Matthews. Why in the World both teams would make that trade?

Among all the overreactions to last night's game, this may be my favorite. Never gonna happen. Eichel and Dahlin are an incredible pair of building blocks. The flaws in the roster have nothing to do with them. OP, would you tear down the foundation of your house and build a completely new one if your ceiling started leaking?

More importantly, stop playing Scandella all together. Risto's possession metrics are actually pretty good this year when he plays with literally anyone other than the dumpster fire that is Marco Scandella. Risto has his derpy moments, but he's not the guy who's killing our blue line.

This thread is completely pointless.

There is absolutely no chance at all that Buffalo trades their 21yr old franchise #1 center.

Especially considering that he is in the first year of a recently signed max 8 year contract and was just named team captain, too.


Also, I don’t think Eichel is as worried about wasting his career in buffalo as the OP is, seeing as Eichel himself said that he instructed his agent to ONLY discuss a max term (8yr) contract with buffalo. And said he is 100% dedicated to turning the Sabres around.
