2 Minutes for Being Matt Rempe (Jets score GWG on ensuing PP)?

It's a penalty. Despite getting pushed a little, he made no effort at all to stop.

Now if the arguement is he didn't bump him all that hard and it shouldn't be a penalty based on the softness of the contact, I can agree with that. Goalies are too coddled but that's not the current NHL.

I don't care who it is, that's not a penalty no matter how hard anyone tries to justify it.
He literally is trying to stop himself from being pushed the moment contact is made by Barron.

Come on people, he's a goon that deserves no sympathy but that's no excuse to try and deny that that was a terrible call by the ref.

It's an absolute shit call, and it's probably just equal parts refs suck in general and Rempe reputation. How many bad goalie interference calls do we see with regularity? It's not really threadworthy.

Anyone trying to defend this call or saying Rempe did it accidentally on purpose aren't worth responding to.

I feel like he could have done infinitely more to not just plow directly into the goalie (who was fully in the crease). It wasn't even that much of a push lol

I mean, it's right on the video... the WPG player stumbles and loses his footing from how hard he is pushing him.

Shitty reffing makes players act in ways you don't want them too.

Turning into the boards, pushing people into goalies, not protecting themselves, diving, the holding someones stick and hitting yourself with it really pisses me off. I'm still waiting for someone to bite their lip to get an extra 2 minute high stick call

Whatever lol. Rempe didn't try to avoid it at all. I thought this sort of thing was deemed not worth responding to?

He has no responsibility to 'avoid' anything there. He's simply standing in the slot and the guy pushes him into his own goalie on his own accord.

Avoiding contact with the goalie is a respnosibiltiy if you're gonna cut hard to the net when driving the net with the puck etc.

No ones gonna feel bad for the Rangers and rempe which is why this thread is dumb. But make no mistake if this call went against your or any teams top player in a game they needed to win, you'd be pissed and probably would make a thread about it and how bad it is.

Quit making shit up just because you're emotional about losing a reg season game. For the record I don't even think it was a good call I just think Rempe made zero effort to avoid it

He seems to resist a little and then stop, allowing the push to glide him toward falling onto the goalie.

Honestly, even if the call isn't good, Rempe isn't good at hockey. You may as well cheer for the team mascot. It's collateral damage for putting him on the ice.

First, Rempe doesn't deserve even a single ounce of grace. He has zero benefit of the doubt right now, and that is entirely his fault. If he does anything remotely negative on the ice that could be interpreted as intentional, it should be.

Second, they have basically been calling any goalie contact as interference this year. Doesn't matter how it happened, if you touch the goalie at all and they are unable to reset a full 2-3 seconds before the shot, it is probably getting called back. We've seen a goalie get his own stick caught in a player's legs, outside the crease, and they still called it back. I think this is the softest year for GI calls I've ever seen, but ironically, the most consistent. It is what it is

Rempe getting a minor isn’t why the Rangers lost. Their big guns played crappy. The Rangers lose because ZiB, Miller, Panarin don’t put up numbers. Rempe is pretty much an afterthought as an actual nhl player.
