2 Losses and No GDT

Realistically we don’t even have that many.

Leafs were piping hot missing 8 guys earlier this year including Auston Matthews.

They were also getting league best (by a significant margin) goaltending though. That hides a lot of flaws.

We're not getting that these days with Ullmark on the shelf.

It's amazing how quickly your team can go from shit to great to shit again entirely dependent on one guy.

Isn't that right, New York Rangers?

People are stressing out a little bit too much about the offense. We have the 7th most goals per game at home. We've played far more on the road so far, where you don't get the matchups.

It'll all balance itself out.

Look at Boston too. Korpisalo with a .893 save % while taking the easier matchups and Swayman at .892. Swap in last years Swayman and Ullmark and they're probably tops in the division.
Swayman holds out. Embarrasses the club.

Signs at 8.25 M and then proceeds to crap the bed.

Do you think Boston made a slight mistake in who they kept?

15 Home, 22 away.. and 3 long, away stretches.

You're right. It should ease off a tad.

Thinking back, they believe they backed the Brinks truck to the right goaltender. No looking back for the Bruins.

I would have made the same decision if I were in their shoes, and I'm confident Swayman will trend up, but ya, certainly gives some pause when you see the other guy plays as well as he has. That said, at least Swayman seems to stay healthy for them and maybe they didn't love Ullmark's med reports too.

Was going to say its unacceptable to lose against a division rival, but hey, at least we lost in OT and got a point.

Once again our top players are the only ones who score, and only 2g.

Bath and Stu need to be taking advantage of teams with mediocre goalies as well. Tkachuk can't be the only one scoring.

Stutzle has 2 points in the last 6 games.
I don’t just mean goals assists points.

No creativity. No ability to make something out of nothing. No one who can just hop on the cue and absolutely dominate a shift. Only stutzle can do that at any consistent level

I don't think we are good enough to make the playoffs as is. In fact, I'm sure of it: this roster is mediocre and players like Batherson and Norris aren't consistent enough for this roster to go far.

Still, this is first year in what? 7?! That we look like an actual, legit NHL team so there's been very real progress.
The teams around us are also not very good.

And if our goalies had played decent the first 20 games of the season we are likely sitting very pretty right now

Batherson had such a great look with what, 20 seconds left?

Tried to go top cheese far side and Talbot just got a piece of it...big difference to steal two full points on them late again vs losing in OT.

Our top players did a whole lot of nothing during the win streak 5 on 5. It was bottom-six scoring and goaltending. That wasn't going to last forever so the top players better be the ones scoring right now.

Boston is a mediocre team that's been held together by Pasta and hope. In a more generous world a team like ours, or Buffalo or Detroti would be in that third spot and Boston would be where htey belong, competing with Philly for worst human fanbases.

Senators should be fine, if "Steady" Steve actually wakes up from his season-long nap and does something. Plenty of goaltending out there for a quick fix, don't be afraid of breaking eggs when this team hasn't passed an elementary cooking class in 8 years.

Not every line needs to score, but aside from Tkachuk, Stu, Bath and Chabot, it'd be nice to see Giroux, Norris, Pinto, Cousins or Gaudette score. Greig has been decent the last few games since he played with Tkachuk but the other 4 guys I mentioned have had a combined 2g among them in the last 5 games. Sanderson as well, he's at 2 goals for the season.

Nice to see Sandy and Zub back together. They were the 2 Highest Corsi players on the team last night.

The Sens had 12 players 50+ CF% in that game last night

Our 4th line got caved on the road
Zub looked really good to me. He was back to making those quick outlet passes in transition, something we weren't seeing from Hamonic.

having a partner that can move the puck... Your in a bit of trouble.. move the puck to your partner and its on one of your players sticks vs just getting rid of it or icing it. HUGE difference and the Sens have missed it.

I don't think they're that skilled tbh. Maybe a player or two is highly skilled but everyone else is meh
They're certainly not very opportunistic (clutch). Most of the forwards need lots of net front presence to score, something that's not being done consistently. Most of our D shoot rarely find a lane to shoot on resulting in hitting a player. If they didn't score on the PP, the top 6's numbers would be truly dismal.

Well, you said "no offense out of the top", so that manifests in goals & assists, and Stutzle only has 2 points. He’s probably trying to be creative, but it hasn’t been working.

That’s the point though. If someone gets injured, someone else has to step up.

No excuses.

Okay. Sorry for misspeaking. Clearly there is SOME offence outside of the top. Cousins has goals. Amadio has goals. Even Ostapchuk has an assist or two. So yea. There is offense outside of the top.

Right. Stutzle may have more if he had other dynamic talents to playwith

Perhaps we should not play the 4th line on the road. :)
