I did not watch. I see we won. I see we gave up 5 goals.

Like I said before, I think we'll win enough games without Mrazek to make the playoffs, but the stats for Reimer look hella bad in this small sample size. Maybe the defense was terrible in front of him, I dunno -- but Reimer is a sub-.900 goalie right now.

I also see from the stats that Reimer was only credited with 4 GAA and 59:45 TOI. Can I assume that's a mistake?

Our owner played hardball with Forslund using the pandemic as his reasoning and Forslund went to Seattle and is doing national games only this year... Mike Maniscalco took his place and has not been great so far, consistently mistaking left handed Canes players for right handed Canes players, etc. but he's been improving and does have some nice moments. Still, a huge fall off in quality from Forslund but I think he'll get good enough in time that it will be fine.
I’ve always liked him, but it’s definitely tough for anyone to replace Forslund.

At least Tripp is still there, right?

Reimer was pretty brutal today.

From a shot count perspective, our defense was good today. Reimer had a soft night, so thankful that our offense greatly compensated. It's really interesting how one injury can impact the other guy's goaltending so greatly, but thankfully Mrazek will be back sooner than we initially expected.

But yeah, it's really something that Trocheck, Nino, and Dzingel are all having rebound years at the same time. That makes me feel much more comfortable about the inevitable Boston rematch in a few months.
If we're playing Boston that means we made at least the final 4 which is pretty successful no matter what else

So that was a fun but incredibly stressful game to watch. One takeaway is that I can't believe so many on here didn't want to trade for Laine. I mean damn.

I wanted it lol. Not at the price of Pesce AND Necas, but I wanted it. Analytics don't always paint Laine favorably, but you get him to raise your shooting percentage to absurd levels, not to drive play. That wrist shot is the definition of automatic.

Yeah Tripp is here and he’s a riot, but can get annoying at times and Forslund did a great job of playing off of him and reeling him in a bit, so Mike has some work to do building chemistry with Tripp. It’s unfortunate we lost Forslund for sure and he’s one of the best but it just is what it is and doesn’t take away much from my experience watching games

ANYWAY, BIG CREDIT TO THE ENTIRE PENALTY KILL ON THAT LAST SHIFT.

AND AS A FLOORBALL PLAYER I LOVED HOW SLAVIN PUT HIS ENTIRE BODY SIDEWAYS FACING THE SHOT TO COVER MORE SPACE. HE'S THE LEAST VIOLENT WARRIOR IN THE ENTIRE LEAGUE.
My favorite part of that was him and Laine coming together after the horn. I can only imagine what Jaccob said to him.

"Man, that was a nice shot. Sorry I couldn't let you finish the hat trick, we really needed these two points."

So who was this prick that the Blue Jackets gave up to get not only Laine but the other dude? Better than both Pesce AND Necas? I'd have give. up Pesce for him. And a 1st. But not Necas too. Did they not have a counteroffer?
