Here's a thought. It's not the players. It's not the coach. It's both. The difference is we know what both certain players and Dineen are capable of, while others aren't working out.

You can blame Dineen for bad line choices and sitting players or not. But I blame the players themselves when they don't bring effort. A coach shouldn't have to motivate you to try.

Okay, no one is saying this team is filled with all stars. People recognize the lack of talent on the roster, but the fact of the matter is that the coaching can be better and it is a hell of a lot easier to change the coach than it is to switch out half the roster.

Everyone but zerog loved Dineen two years ago. If you asked most people on here what type of system Dineen is running, most probably don't even know what it is. The same applies to all coaches for that matter.

Teams with good players win. Teams with bad players don't.

It's not Dineen's fault that he has no top line players on his team. It's not Dineen's fault that his goaltenders can't make a big save. The only difference between this team and the playoff team of two years ago when people loved Dineen was that we used to get big saves. That's pretty much it.

That's true.

And then we can talk about firing the coach a year later when the talent is still the same.

I highly doubt that Dineen approves the style of play he's watched for the past year+. He doesn't tell Versteeg and all of these other idiots to backhand passes when they have clear opportunities at a shot. He probably doesn't tell all of the defensemen to miss the net. He probably doesn't tell his goalies to allow at least one soft goal per game.

You're the same guy who wanted MacIntyre on the PP when DeBoer was here.

If it were as simple as "hey get your ass to the front of the net" every team would do it on every shift. Do you think Dineen doesn't want his players going to the front of the net? What coach wouldn't want that?

At least that team had effort. That is the major difference. I've always hated Dineen's dump and chase / collapsing defense style. You can say we don't have enough talent to do anything else. Well it's not like it's working! You have to try something new out!
