Speculation: 1st (Top 15) + Willander/Dpetey for ??? (Center)

Depends what you mean by "Top C". Do you mean Sillinger/Rossi/Kulich/Pinto/Hayton, who are not yet established as 2Cs and would be a risk to invest in, or do you mean more established/higher potential players like McTavish/Lundell/Wright/Byfield?

To me, the former should be in the 1st + good prospect range, while the latter is in top prospect (Willander/Lekk)++ territory.

Then you have the 3rd option, which is go after older players to fill the gap in what it would take to draft/develop/luck out in a change-of-scenery deal for the longer-term C. So, Horvat/Kadri/Cirelli/W. Karlsson/etc... Hopefully this would be a closer acquisition cost to the former...

Maybe. I hope not though. I don’t think realistically the Wild would be looking for futures in a Rossi deal though, unless it’s part of a bigger deal. Rossi for Peterka is something I see them looking at.

willander isn't 6'4. he's listed at 6'1 but i've stood next to him and he's 5'11 tops

I might even go as high as lekkerimaki and a 1st, but man it would be tough to let him go

Willander the defenseman? No, Nashville is not letting go of their only opportunity to draft a high caliber forward to get another defenseman.

Rossi has more points this year than all of the bolded. I don't understand how he is in a lower tier than them.
 
Strongly doubt that LA move on from Byfield.
Alex Turcotte is interesting though, and maybe wouldn't cost Willander, though LA doesn't have to move him on his sweetheart deal.

more realistic path forward is to go after the 3rd option. which is what the Avs did post Kadri, cycle the 2Cs until one clicks. Newhook, Eller, Johansson, Mittelstadt, Nelson....

everyone is clutching onto their prized C prospects the way vancouver is holding onto their top4 RHD prospects.

now with a higher cap though, the UFA class may get leaner.

Horvat turned into Ratey and Hronek.
JT wanted out, returned Chytil, Mancini and and MP.
Lindholm sucks.

I will always miss JT but it is what it is. Who knows if Chytil works out but our Dcorp is finally stabilized and a strength.
Who knows what the summer brings but the if we can land a Marner or Ehlers and EP and Chytil go into next year healthy, even without a move the Centre depth of EP Chytil, Raty, Blueger (Suter?) isn't terrible.
We need to stay healthy and we need a star added in the top six.
People tend to forget that aside from key injuries, almost every forward had a down year and it's unlikely that happens again.
Definitely need great seasons from EP and Demko as well, our stars need to play like stars.

Every one of those scrubs has suited up for Vancouver since Hughes' first year. We've spent countless assets trying to fix the defense. Allvin has called every single GM 20 times each asking for their young defenders and been told 1000 times to piss off.

Now we have drafted two young drafted studs of our own, while trading for two actually capable top4 dmen as well.

And we have Hughes.

This is our strength going forward. I understand we have zero assets elsewhere to improve the rest of the team, I dont give a damn. Now its our turn to tell others to pound sand.

We're a year away from the greatest top6 in decades.

Pettersson - Willander
Pettersson - Mancini

A top 6 that doesnt feature Tyler Myers!

Find the way to improve without touching the defense. Maybe use Kirill Kudryatsev and Sawyer Mynio as bait, but even still id rather keep them and have the greatest depth ever.

Man if I go back one year further we get into Matt Bartowski probably. I cant go back to Bartowski. I just cant. Oscar Fantenberg almost broke me.

Lets have a killer defense everyone else tries to poach from, for once in my bloody lifetime!

Keep DPetey. Keep Willander. Pray Mancini develops into something nice. Let KK cook till he is a former 7th rounder with three 30 point AHL seasons THEN maybe trade him.

Fix the forwards somehow else. Dont touch the defense we've worked sooooooo hard.

Recency bias tells me Allvin wants to sit on defenders just to spite the other GMs after all these phone calls hes made. If anyone knows the value of defenders, it should be Allvin.
 
I'd offer Anaheim 1st, 2nd and willander/lekkeramaki and threaten to offer sheet him for 9.5x6(2 first, 2nd, 3rd) they need their 3rd back to make it happen but with zegras, Carlsson, terry and MacTavish they might be most likely to move off a young center for a top 4rhd prospect.
 
Willander is highly coveted.

Report today is that Team Sweden has asked him to play in the Worlds in May which is being held in Stockholm.

Thats a high honor Willander who just turned 20 yrs old less 2 months ago.
