Good story.I was in grade 3 when these guys won the Cup, distinctly remember pacing around nervous in game 1 OT against Quebec. The series against the Sabres and Islanders after are a blur, but have vivid memories of Desjardins in game 2 of the finals and LeClair's OT winners. I had to tape game 5 on VHS because I had a little league game.
Would be nice for them to win a Cup when I'm older than age 9 though.
Another story: I watched the first game of the 1993 SCF at a Cage Aux Sport downtown on Guy (it's not there anymore). We lost that game. Next day I got calls from friends who saw me on the late-night news. Apparently, CTV had been at that restaurant filming fan reactions to the game, and zoomed in on my pathetic, sad face.cool to read stories from the 12 people on here who were alive/conscious when this happened
What's it like to watch a team succeed
I was so bummed when Quebec had won the 1ST two games. Living in Virginia the 3rd game wasn't televised and the sports feed I was watching reported that Quebec had won game 3 in OT...I was devastated until my brother called me all happy telling me the Habs had won in OT. Talk about a high and a low minutes apart!cool to read stories from the 12 people on here who were alive/conscious when this happened

Good story.
Kudos to my mom for giving me permission to watch the whole games thoughout the playoffs, way passed my bed time on week days. I was 11 years old
I even got to watch Mick Vukota score that infamous goal that pretty much sent us to the ultimate glory!
My blood pressure was as high as it's ever been, my TV died in game 4 and I replaced it with a 9-inch b&w courtesy of my Filipino landlord who used to introduce me as his son whenever we were together in public lol. I sat about 2 feet away from the screen which sat on my kitchen table lol, aw f*** lol, those were the days. I had watched the Habs win 3 cups before that one but it was always with my dad. I felt like this was my cup, my very own lol. Desjardins! Desjardins!cool to read stories from the 12 people on here who were alive/conscious when this happened

Are you talking about the David Volek goal?
I assume that’s what you’re referring to. And yes, that goal pretty much sealed it for us. Not sure we’re getting past the Pens as much as that pains me to admit.
I'm around the same age as you. I have some memories of the 93 run, like falling asleep on the couch and then being woken up when my dad carried me to bed a while later to tell me that the Habs won in OT. I also remember thinking how cool it was that the Habs won both the game and series 4-1 vs LA. For some reason I thought that made the win even sweeter.I was in grade 3 when these guys won the Cup, distinctly remember pacing around nervous in game 1 OT against Quebec. Nice catch! Yes, Volek. I’m mixing my my weird names from the Islanders. Are you talking about the David Volek goal?

That's a shame. Though atleast you still have the one kid. Plus I've heard single life isn't so bad. That's a lot of QC born players...did the Habs still have the exclusive rights to QC? lol
I was only 9/10 years old so i don't recall some of the most obscure players but do i ever remember being so happy when the habs won the cup. I know i cried a bit from emotion and that's when my parents were like damn he really likes this team/hockey.
I have boys that are 6 and 8, the 6 year old is a Leaf fan thanks to my wife lol, but the 8 year is a Habs fan through and through. I just want them to experience what i went through 30 years ago, because that Habs SC win is what cemented my love for hockey/Habs.
It is different but I got to experience it in a different way; my girl was into it so damn much that I vibed just as much.I was in grade 4 at the time. It was a bit different for me because I live on the west coast, so I couldn't feel the vibe of being in the city.
Anyways, it was just a really exciting time. The games would start an hour after I'd come back from school, and it all I could really think about the whole day.
The thrill of that OT streak will probably never be duplicated. The 2021 final also showed to me that its just not the same feeling when you get older, covid or no covid, so I pity the fans who never got to experience a cup in their childhood.... It hits differently.
I also remember that once the Habs were hoisting that cup, I immediately went to my room, because I neglected a class project during that playoff run, and I finally had the frame of mind to work on it and to present infront of the class the following day. Good times.
