Torts talked so much about how he unlocked Coots' offense by putting him on the wing, I'm wondering, what's the problem to do the same to Frost? Put him on the left wing with Poeling and Mich, scratch Tippet (cause everyone cat watch some games from the press box per Torts), put Frost on the left half-wall of PP1.

No, because it makes more sense for this organization to put a Sam Morin at LW than a Morgan Frost, or to run 11F 7D.

Wouldn't be surprised to see them run 11 & 7 once Drysdale and York are healthy. They'll use the excuse that they want to keep Andrae in the lineup, but dont want to overwork him

Eagerly awaiting the upcoming trade of Frost for a 4th round pick which will be followed this summer by the 4 year extension of future Flyers team president Scott Laughton

Has there ever been a player as mediocre to spend at least 12 years with the same team? Has to be a record of some kind. The only player that comes to mind is Chris Neil with Ottawa but he was an enforcer so it's a different kind of role than just a mediocre utility player.

I’ve seen average to mediocre players that some coaches just had to have, Brian Noonan for Mike Keenan or Jody Hull for Roger Neilson, but I really can’t remember a player as mediocre as Laughton who is so beloved by his organization as to make him untouchable.

Especially when said player never played on a team that even reached a conference final, let alone won a Cup.

Colton Sissons is a really good comp. Only reason he's at 11 seasons instead of 12 is they called him up a year later, but he went 30 picks after Laughton, and has spent his entire career in Nashville.

Abdelkader was drafted in 2005 and retired in 2020 after being bought out 4 years into a 7 year deal.

I’d say that’s a good template. I think Laughts still has a solid 4 years of below replacement level play left in him.

That's it. That's the one. All that's missing is the unearned appointment to an Olympic team. Thankfully for Team Canada fans, Torts is American.

Milbury

*Edit* I checked and apparently Jonathan Ericsson had parts of 13 years with Detroit. There's a bet I would have lost handily.
