Yzerman was this god of a manager and Pat was part of his success.

Tampa didn't start actually winning until he was gone
Detroit is still shit
Ducks are runnig their young stars to the ground with a system that was last successful when the dinosaurs were still roaming around.

This is my first thought when seeing the GDT title  sorry, I have been a party pooper pessimist on these boards lately. I hope we win this one.

I like your pessimism and pessimism in general. I'm also fun at parties.

To be fair, pessimism is a lot closer to realism than optimism is in most circumstances. It's also funnier.
I mostly agree with the first sentence but vehemently disagree with the second. In the context of sports fandom, pessimism just depressing. If there's no hope, what's even the point? This is supposed to be entertainment.

As I discovered with the Angels about a year and a half ago, if that well has finally run completely dry, better just to let it lie dormant and not care for a while. I'm not there yet with the Ducks.

Different strokes I suppose. I find hyperbolic pessimism to be pretty funny in GDTs. "Stroke will never score again." Or: "fire Cronin to the sun."

Yeah, I think that's right. Unless I'm feeling particularly frustrated and need to vent (which, frankly, is happening more and more often with this team), I usually avoid game threads. I don't have a problem with immediate reactions to stuff that's happening (e.g. Killorn looks like crap tonight), but I don't find the over-arching statements to be amusing. I'd rather discuss those things postgame, once the passions of the moment have died down.

Even in the most frustrating moments, I want to hang onto hope that the team will win, both in the short-term and the long-term.

Why do people worship guys like Dubas and/or Yzerman? They haven't done shit to back up their bravado

Yzerman took the Lightning to 2 eastern conference finals and 1 Finals, with another playoff appearance and 2 non-playoff years, after they had missed the playoffs three straight seasons. He also drafted and brought in a slew of their core pieces.

Kucharov, Vasilievsky, Point, Palat, Corelli, Foote, Johnson, Gourde, McDonough, Sergachev, Cernak.

He’s not been remotely as successful in Detroit, but he absolutely built the core of what made Tampa work.
