I'm so confused. NBC finally has a rivalry on Wednesday Night, Rivalry Night. Next week they will have Maple Leafs - Wild as a "rivalry" again haha

I actually don't think I've seen a non-third period empty net before - makes sense, though.

It's rare, but happens occasionally. I remember watching some neutral game when I was much younger (I think the Sharks were involved) and one team pulled their goalie in a similar situation. I got excited about the possibility of one team scoring on the empty net if they didn't put the goalie back in for the next period. My father said that they'd put the goalie back in. I asked what if they didn't?

They put the goalie back in. :sarcasm:

I think that shot by Stepan is a great example of why you can't dress a sumo wrestler in goalie pads and expect him to be an effective goalie. If there's any kind of hole available, an NHL player will find it. Even skating full speed.

I wouldn't say that, the teams traded chances and Lundqvist was just Lundqvist. Fleury isn't Lundqvist.

The Penguins were the better team for the first 5 minutes but the Rangers were better after that PK IMO.

They didn't really exchange scoring chances for the most of the period... Pitt had 7 chances and 10 shots on goal while the Rangers had only 1 scoring chance and 2 shots on goal until about 6 minutes left in the period. It wasn't until the final 5 minutes of the period that the Rangers started to get some good chances.

Nice recovery by the Rangers. Ended the period with a 55.6% Fenwick at 5v5.

Somebody told Kreider to stop thinking about it and just start moving his feet. I like it.
also it helps that he isnt scared to death of being benched if he makes a small mistake. AV benched that line in teh carolina game but he gave them a oppurtunity to respond and they responded
