we played well the first 10-12 minutes of that period, other than scoring, but the last part of the period was owned by the Caps...just mostly in our end during that time but Jarry playing well so far

So how does 6'9" Chara get away with a stick to Teddy's head, but then get a weak holding penalty later?

Solid period, Teddy sticking up for himself. Two empty/open net tries and get posts on the PP.

They made it out of the period without a GA, with Jarry having some weird pinballing going on around him.

Just keep putting the pucks on net.

Those two goal posts, especially the Crosby one with a wide open net, are going to come back to haunt them. I just know it.

So far, at least they look engaged. Hopefully that keeps up for the next 40 minutes.

My posts are jokes. And hockey is just a game.

Didn't give up a goal in first or last minute

Didn't give up SHG

Kinda a win for us in terms of a period of hockey lol

I'd put Lafferty with Geno, if he is not going to break BART put Geno on the 4th line between Sceviour and Lafferty, do something cause that second line is where momentum dies, maybe Scev and Lff can forecheck hard and allow for some zone time, really do something anything

This year? Also, I can’t think of a dangerous chance besides the PP breakdown
We've actually been pretty good at shot suppression. It's just the quality of chances has been high.

Pittsburgh Penguins - Boston Bruins - January 28th, 2021

There's an example.

It's true we lowered the high danger chances against in that period I guess, but there were still a lot of pucks around Jarry and we were lucky the Caps didn't get a bounce or corral the puck at the right time.

Analytics from the first period:

CF: 14 to 14, tied
HDCF: 6 to 0 for Capitals
xGF: 1.12 to 0.2 for Capitals
xGF%: 84.53% for Capitals

Oof

A lot of those “advanced stats” are straight up nonsense.

I'm not sure if they are non-sense but I would love to see the pictures of the SIX high danger chances.

Because this is like 10/15 GA's. I didn't see anything like this...
