Yes but with the Leafs injuries on D do they take a chance on Hunt or wait?

Hunt has a cannon for a shot, but does nothing else.

At least, that's what I remember about him. Maybe he doesn't do that well either.

Hunt is a fine #7, didn’t Carcone play a bunch of NHL games last season? Feel like he’d be a fine bottom sixer.

Everyone else is stepping up and he's the odd man out. I can see the Devils trying to see if he if someone is willing to take him or not his contract is pretty bad for what he is though..
Ah ok, I thought it was rumored by a Devils insider or someone like that.

If the goal is to get someone to take his contract, I am not sure waiving him now is the best time for that. Teams are still evaluating all their top prospects. In a week it would be more likely he is claimed.

I said he's a solid #7. Solid is describing his fit as a #7 not his overall game. OFD described his overall game. There arent many better #7 options especially ones that come in at a salary of 1M or less.
The Avs have two better options in MacDonald and MacDermid.

Chicago should put a claim in for JJohansson if only because they already have JJohnson TJohnson and RJohnson...plus Stalock sucks

Clever Avs. Using waivers a little early when teams have big TC rosters.

Looking good for 2018 1st round pick, Martin Kaut, to make the team out of TC. Bowers may make it as well.

It's curious that Bowers didn't play against Vegas last night and didn't get cut, while Ranta, Olausson, and Foudy played and got cut. I suppose those three are waiver exempt though which isn't the case for Bowers so they need to give Bowers a longer look in practice and the last two preseason games.

I’m not sure I’d ever use the word solid to describe Hunt’s game. He has some offensive ability, but he’s about as bad defensively as anyone in the league

Hunt hasn't been overly impressive in preseason games, especially with DZ coverage. Not particularly surprised that he got sent down. It would be annoying if someone claimed him though as defensive depth is always good to have, and the Avs are a bit thin on that beyond the top 6.

Avs have a better #7 than Hunt in Jacob MacDonald who has a $762.5k caphit the next two years, same as Hunt. That sort of caphit will be especially useful in 2023/24 since it'll be below the league minimum $775k for 2023.

I wouldn’t consider an offensive D man to be a solid #7 guy.
The #7 has to be able to play defense.
An offensive Dman not good enough for your top 6 is a top pair guy in the AHL subject to recall if an offensive Dman is injured.

Oh please god I hope so. Any chance in hell he gets claimed?

Seems doubtful, only 9 teams even have the cap space and one of those is Dallas who is reserving that money for Jason Robertson. For most of the other teams, it would be strange if they ate up their remaining cap space this early instead of waiting for later in the season.

The only thing Johnsson has going for him is that his salary is closer to the league minimum (assuming his signing bonus was paid in one installment). Months ago I remember Darren Dreger saying how that might be attractive to a team wanting to get over the salary floor as cheaply as possible (Arizona/Anaheim/Buffalo) but everybody seems comfortably over right now.

My long shot thought is that Johnsson's best season came when current Ottawa coach D.J. Smith was behind the bench in Toronto. They maybe have a spot open right now with Alex Formenton unsigned, but also would likely need that cap space to to sign him in the first place.

Do waiver claims this year come with your choice of crab juice or Mountain Dew?
