This. McTavish has scored a few empty points at the end of games in blowouts. The issue is that the rest of the team is so unproductive. It's really bad. No team should be this bad offensively.

Cronin has done nothing to impress, but I blame our bad play due to individual bad decisions made by players with the puck.

We can be an effective unit with or without the puck. We are dangerous when we make tape to tape passes and have speed. When we can’t we can still put the puck in smart areas and apply pressure.

But too often we are putting the puck in bad areas and the other team gets a counteract and we play defense for 90 seconds. And due to our terrible faceoffs it can take several shift to mount pressure again.

We badly need a faceoff specialist and bench people who make bonehead plays.

The only bright spot I'm seeing, besides goaltending(which I feel has been slipping a bit), is that the defensive structure is there. LaCombe and Fowler still doing their thing sometimes looking lost, Gudas stepping up at bad times, and Zell compensating(pretty successfully) for his lack of physicality. It's not the same as previous years, where it's just a complete mess, that ends up with guys out of position CONSTANTLY. They need to learn to transition from this into offense, and start to execute on opportunities. I've been very unimpressed, but this is better than letting them just score to try to keep even or ahead, and then have to learn how to play an adequate defensive system to match that style. There's a chance this does start to click, and if it does, there will be a whole lot of crow eaten about Cronin. LOTS!
