Prospect Info: 12th Overall 2024 Draft, LHD Zeev Buium

He’s only going to play the finale; He’s not playing tomorrow or Saturday. I doubt he plays in the playoffs either. I love the player but we’re going to be trying to play mistake free hockey, at the expense of offense, in the playoffs. Not sure it makes sense to put him in after one NHL game. We’ll see though.

I don't think it makes a lot of sense to burn a year to only give him the Anaheim game. Wouldn't be surprised if he draws in against Vancouver too, especially if we beat Calgary, and then if he looks good I think he plays in the playoffs over Merrill, who sucks.

Merrill and Booger have both been below replacement level this year. I dont mind burying a year tbh. I’d love to have three years on an ELC, but sometimes it’s nice to get out in front of a year three breakout.

I still believe he'd get a game or two if they're going to sign and burn him.
Doesn’t his contract slide? He’s only 19

Edit: Guess not. They really need to change the wording of the ELC slide rule. They mention the eligibility depends on the age of the player as of September 15th, but in reality it’s whether they turn 20 in the calendar year that they signed the ELC.

Suspect this will be the case. He’d have to really stand out against Anaheim. Chisholm already has the 7D role and Middleton’s likely back before playoffs. Hope we are wrong, I think he’d be a nice guy to add to the lineup if the offense dries up mid series.

Apparently Zeev played 51 minutes in his last game. Even Ryan Suter would complain about that.

I sure hope that we nail down a playoff spot quickly so we can get a quick look at Zeev. I think he is the longest of long shots to play in the playoffs. Faber was two years older than he is now when he played his first NHL games. I can see Bogo not being a bad partner for Zeev, though. He has the brawn and toughness, Zeev the puck handling and brain.

Think we should sign him anyway and then just let him go to the thing tonight. At least then we can figure out the number controversy.
