I will be shocked if Zeev doesn’t step right into a big role for the Wild this season.
They may if they think he might be a step up over Chisholm and are in playoff position. If he can help in the playoffs this year, they'll sign him and burn the year for a chance at the Cup. I would be a little surprised (not shocked) if they didn't try him out in the NHL this year, at least. If they think he isn't ready, though, I'm fairly certain he'll go back to college next year.He won't. No reason to burn the ELC year, and he's 2 more seasons to UFA.
He'll take the AHL only, ELC starting July 1st deal.
Maybe it would change if there was a major injury to Brodin/Middleton down the stretch, but it would still probably be poor asset management
Of course, this only really matters if they have the cap space to sign him. They don't project to right now.
Just not gonna happen. We literally can't afford the signing bonus on this year's cap. They may if they think he might be a step up over Chisholm and are in playoff position. Don't think that they save much money by doing so. A majority of his cap hit will still count against the cap, as he has a one way deal.Couldn’t they just waive Merrill to make it work?
One way vs two way doesn’t really matter IIRC. We can get cap savings up to a certain threshold. The number was something like $1M of his $1.2M if we did it before the season. Not sure what it would be now that over half the season is gone, but waiving him and Dermott should be enough to work Zeev into the team cap situation.Don't think that they save much money by doing so. If i thought that buium would be the difference between the team being a legit contender and a fringe playoff team then i would want him signed, but that's a lot to ask from a very young player. Faber came in at the end of his D + 3 year, Brodin partway through his D+2. Zeev will only be at the end of his D+1 year.
I think the problem with the team right now is not having enough effective forwards, not a lack of good Dmen. Zeev will, hopefully, be a real and necessary asset in years to come, but I have low expectations for his play this year.
Apparently involved in a big brawl at the end of last night's game. Can't find video though.
Yeah, but Jiricek should also be ready for some NHL time. One way vs two way doesn’t really matter IIRC. We can get cap savings up to a certain threshold. Agreed that the forwards are the problem. However, if we are running 6 deep on the blueline that will help this team out tremendously.
The article doesn't give a lot of context. Apparently UND was cheapshotting Buium and he was lucky he didn't get injured. I'm surprised there isn't more suspensions being handed out.
Typical UND behavior, glad our boy stood his groundThe article doesn't give a lot of context. Apparently UND was cheapshotting Buium and he was lucky he didn't get injured. I'm surprised there isn't more suspensions being handed out.
There's a link to a more detailed article in there too. Glad he wasn't hurt. The article doesn't give a lot of context. Apparently UND was cheapshotting Buium and he was lucky he didn't get injured. I'm surprised there isn't more suspensions being handed out.
