Clean house on the coaching staff there.
It think they literally need to fire everyone involved with Iowa , relocate the team , light the room on fire when they leave and then fully rebrand somewhere else. Sweet f*** what an absolute 100% dumpster fire that is clearly negatively impacting the kids we send there.

Iowa can’t be abandoned. We can’t keep prospects from there, it’s too important of a developmental asset. I wonder if we have leaned too much on the Pearts, RORs, Bankiers and Lambos types in an effort to develop them. At the end of the day, none of them look like more than depth pieces. Should consider getting better vets.

Zeev should get every chance to show he is NHL ready. Much like Faber, he has a flawless pre-NHL resume. Some guys don’t need to be slow-cooked. Rossi, Jiricek, Ohgren and to a lesser extent, Boldy did. I think Zeev and Yurov have proven enough to get the benefit of the doubt.

I think the main difference is skating ability. Zeev, Faber, and Yurov are/were NHL ready skaters. Rossi & Jiricek were not and needed off-ice attention to gain strength and work on their stride.

You know they did right? Joseph Cecconi, Cameron Crotty, Reese Johnson, Ryan Sandelin, Devin Shore, have played a bit in the AHL.
Jeez, you're right. Lots of $500k minors salaries in there. Bunch of whiffs then.

Honestly, they can still bring him along slowly at the NHL level. Just do a 3rd pair rotation of Buium, Chisholm (if he's re-signed) and Bogosian based on opponents.

If Chisholm isn't re-signed, then the path gets a lot clearer.

Seems like a sure thing that Chisholm reaches UFA status. Don't know how sure i am that we will end up being the highest bidder for his services this summer.

Not all have been whiffs. Devin Shore, Travis Boyd, Brendan Gaunce, and Ben Jones have all done very well for Iowa this year. The problem is that Minnesota keeps calling them up.

Another problem is that only a few of the prospects are contributing meaninfully: Ohgren, Spacek, and Toporowski. Hlavaj's been ok too, I guess, at least compared to Wallstedt. The vaunted Wild prospect pool is filled with mediocre AHLers and a handful of future NHLers.

If we're comparing Iowa to last year;

Petan = Boyd
Lucchini = Jones
Khaira < Gaunce
Fogarty < Johnson
Butcher < Crotty
X < Cecconni

Lettieri/Mermis/Shaw combined for 24 games last year, they don't count. Shore's probably a regular from now on so I didn't count him. So overall a much improved group and there were zero graduates to the NHL team, meaning that should be an improved group as well.

The problem IMO is the 3rd year pro group. 25 year old Sammy Walker, not very good. Top-40 pick Ryan O'Rourke, not very good. 3rd round pick Michael Milne, average at best. Newly acquired top-10 pick David Jiricek, behind schedule. Toporowski, undrafted for a reason. Should of been Firstov's 3rd season, back in Russia. Would be year 3 for Novak, is he even playing hockey anymore?

Year 4 group? Clarke's underperforming since getting healthy and Raska was probably debated on qualifying.

As for Buium, I would hope he's playing pro hockey next season, there's not much for him to work on at the collegiate level. He'll have to send Chisholm to the pressbox for a spot most likely if we're healthy, I don't think that's as tall of a task as most.
