Seems like a well spoken kid , hopefully he makes a splash like Faber did
He hasn't put up amazing point totals, but he's controlled the play whenever he's been on the ice -- in the games I've watched (Canada, Czechia). Wild have a real gem, here.He hasn't been AMAZING, but I certainly don't see anything to be concerned or hesitant about.
So are we thinking he’s nhl ready when his season is over this year? I didn’t get to watch any of the tournament.
The only thing I would say is that his style of rushing the puck, holding onto the puck in the offensive zone, is a style that only a few defenseman can do in the NHL. So, some of this comes down to is he ready from Day 1 to step in and do this? IMO he showed in the World Juniors that he could play a more classic and quieter game. I don't know if his defensive fundamentals are NHL level either but his skating and stick allows him to make up for any of those issues -- at least at the world junior level. Can that translate to the NHL?Everything seems to be pointing to this.

I am of the mind that we should give him a cup of coffee at the NHL to see and answer some of these questions. But what I would say is that I think he's more raw than Faber was. But I totally think he's going to be great... nothing I saw concerned me in terms of who he's going to be.
I think so. He probably is ready now.So are we thinking he’s nhl ready when his season is over this year? I didn’t get to watch any of the tournament.
I don’t think he needs more NCAA time. Maybe a half year in the AHL. He’s too talented to wait around for and i don’t see much left for him to prove at that level. I do agree that Chisholm has at least opened up the possibility of being overly cautious. But I suspect Zeev will be a better player pretty much right away. Especially on the PP. He is so much crisper than Chisholm or Faber.Faber didn't play in the significant NHL time till his D+4 season, same with Fox. Makar D+3. I think it will help Buium to play another year in college, allowing his body to mature and strengthen, as well as his mind. Mental and emotional maturity is an underrated part of a player's makeup. With Brodin, Middleton, and Chisholm playing well there is no need to hurry Zeev. I also think it's smarter for him to stay in college than rush him into the pros, especially with the trainwreck that Iowa is.
I see Buium more as a Fox type player than a Faber. A bit smaller than Faber, less defensively solid, but more talented offensively.
My only concern with bringing Buium into the AHL is well...*gestures at the AHL Team*
Clean house on the coaching staff there. My only concern with bringing Buium into the AHL is well...*gestures at the AHL Team*
