Seems like a well spoken kid , hopefully he makes a splash like Faber did

His two best attributes are supposedly his intelligence and his skating, which is a great combination for today's NHL style

I watched yesterday and he looks good. Smooth skater, can carry the puck, dangerous on the PP. Impressed by the minute load he is playing. He seemed like he was playing really within himself and that has led to not a lot of huge offensive plays but you can tell how good he is when watching him. Very Faber like IMO

Edit: What I am trying to say is that a lot of people talk about him as Makar/Quinn hughes like... and for the most part in this tournament he has looked very Faber-like. This is why people say he hasn't been "amazing" offensively but he's still playing well. And similar to Faber he's still flashing quite a bit offensively but not quite as much as you would expect if the scouting report says Makar/Hughes

Love the MJ tongue. He’s going to add a fun element to a blueline that has long lacked creativity. Very crisp on the PP too.

So are we thinking he’s nhl ready when his season is over this year? I didn’t get to watch any of the tournament.

Everything seems to be pointing to this.
The only thing I would say is that his style of rushing the puck, holding onto the puck in the offensive zone, is a style that only a few defenseman can do in the NHL. So, some of this comes down to is he ready from Day 1 to step in and do this? IMO he showed in the World Juniors that he could play a more classic and quieter game. I don't know if his defensive fundamentals are NHL level either but his skating and stick allows him to make up for any of those issues -- at least at the world junior level. Can that translate to the NHL?

I am of the mind that we should give him a cup of coffee at the NHL to see and answer some of these questions. But what I would say is that I think he's more raw than Faber was. But I totally think he's going to be great... nothing I saw concerned me in terms of who he's going to be.

Yeah, I'm not certain he's a lock to make the NHL roster next season, but I don't think he'll spend a ton of time in Iowa.

Appears ready to step in, might take some time to adjust to what he can and can't get away with but he seems very intelligent so it might not take long at all.

Kid has won enough, hoping denver makes an early exit this year to we can get an early look at him.

Faber didn't play in the significant NHL time till his D+4 season, same with Fox. Makar D+3. I think it will help Buium to play another year in college, allowing his body to mature and strengthen, as well as his mind. Mental and emotional maturity is an underrated part of a player's makeup. With Brodin, Middleton, and Chisholm playing well there is no need to hurry Zeev. I also think it's smarter for him to stay in college than rush him into the pros, especially with the trainwreck that Iowa is.

I see Buium more as a Fox type player than a Faber. A bit smaller than Faber, less defensively solid, but more talented offensively.

I don’t think he needs more NCAA time. Maybe a half year in the AHL. He’s too talented to wait around for and i don’t see much left for him to prove at that level. I do agree that Chisholm has at least opened up the possibility of being overly cautious. But I suspect Zeev will be a better player pretty much right away. Especially on the PP. He is so much crisper than Chisholm or Faber.

Bring him up after this year, he’s ready to help the big club win right now. He’s won 3 championships in 12 months, he is ready and you can always send him to Des Moines for finishing.

My only concern with bringing Buium into the AHL is well...*gestures at the AHL Team*

If Buium is as good as we think/hope, he'll find a way through anyway, but still, stashing him there is not an appealing proposition.
