I don't think Casey will be shopped because his versatility will make him so valuable, especially to the Devils. It's important for those NJ fans who haven't seen Casey a lot to realize he not only also plays center, but he's actually a very capable two-way center when deployed in that role. I'm not sure this would make Seamus Casey a "unicorn", so maybe we can call him more of a "moth man". Because it's rare to see a player with such positional versatility.

Though I haven't yet seen Casey play forward at Michigan, he actually played there for a good deal of minutes at the US-NTDP program.

My worry is they see him as their one big trade chip. Hopefully with the lack of cap space there just isn’t a big move to use him in and they keep him. He only had the one game at center with Michigan against the NTDP where he had 2 goals and deflection goals at that (another goal called back) and an assist. I don’t know if they ever use him up front but they should give him forward reps in camp to see how they feel about it. AHL 1D this year then NHL F/D hybrid following year before back to full time D 26-27 would be great.

You sure about this?

Ya, an exhibition game vs U-18's.

Don't think we should make anything of it.
I disagree completely. It's proof positive that he can be the second center behind Jack that NJ has looked for since Hughes was drafted. He perfectly fills the gap between Hughes and the 3C.

Kind of forgot/overlooked how good an offensive season he had this past year, as a 20 year old, in his first season in the US.

Highlighted by 10 pts in 6 ECHL games, but 29 pts in 54 AHL games is pretty impressive as well. Not sure how much PP time he got.
Honestly this completely flew under the radar with me. Only 6 Utica players outscored him (not Stillman though!) and one of those was defenseman Robbie Russo who scored one extra point in 15 extra games.

Me too, I had to check to see if devilsblood was right and sure enough he was, averaging .5 assists a game for a rookie defenseman is damn impressive!
