They’re going to be a handful for a while.
Typical MTL fandom "easily" a 50 win team. Sure, nobody will ever get hurt or underperform. Every young player will hit the tip top of their potential. Sure it will all work out that way. They have talent but it's still a bit patchwork.

Is there any benefit from Gritsyuk’s side to not signing his ELC for this season? I can see the argument from the Devils side. Hopefully that’s not the way they decide to go though.

Yeah, I dont think they will pan out together tomorrow synchronously.

But they are really good(from perspective point of view), they have Hage too. Thanks God they didnt draft Michkov.

Yeah, if he will sign deal next season. devils will have full ELC year.

Yeah, I understand that from the Devil’s perspective. Just asking if there is any benefit to Gritsyuk, the player, to waiting. Because, assuming SKA lets him go early, if he doesn't sign for this year, we can assume it was the Devils decision?

I’m so glad I got to go to Russia before the geopolitical landscape got all fakakta.

St Petersburg was truly incredible to behold in person.
Real pain in the ass for my wife. Hasn’t been able to go back in like a decade, and she can’t even really get her Russian passport updated right now.

I’m dying to visit Moscow and St. Petersburg, and see her family at lake baikal, but gonna be a pipe dream for a while longer

What? It’s not a huge pain in the ass getting a player to leave Russia????
Whats the hell? I read something different on this forum.

Anyway. Like I said its on Fitz and Gritsyuk side only. Mostly on Fitz side ONLY. Because Arseniy said goodbye to St Petersburg by himself already.
You're doing your victory lap but I don't see Gritsyuk's deal terminated yet.

Imagine if the University of Michigan said "hey, no, his NIL deals with us carry through june, Luke Hughes can't join your team for the playoffs" two years ago.

If it's anything harder than "hey sign here" -> "ok, see you soon" it's a huge pain in the ass. Gritsyuk being the exact kind of player this team needed in the offseason but the Devils not being allowed to call him up to their team in the offseason as a 23 year old prospect is a huge pain in the ass.

The rest of your post is the same typical "mother russia is great you all suck" conjectural bullshit you've spewed on every forum I've ever seen you on. You have no idea if this is "MOSTLY ON FITZ SIDE ONLY" because of a f***ing instagram post, jesus christ.

interesting question.

We dont know what kind of offer Fitz is making now. For example he can offer something like "you sign elc now but then we will give you two years of 2 mil per year. You have no arbitration rights. Or you will play full ELC year but then you will have a deal for your result" or something like that. I think Gritsyuk can understand that he has quite good chance to play with Hughes or with Hischier, gain more points and sign good more long term or at least better cash deal earlier.

Ah that's a bummer. I was there in March of '08 as a senior in HS, and we went to the Hermitage, Catherine's palace, the Faberge Museum, and followed the physical path of Rasputin from where he was poisoned to where they dumped his body; very cool tour.

My friend and I also got pulled over for no apparent reason and had to pay the cop some rubles to let us go lol. We got the whole experience.

Why would Grits be enthusiastic about playing on the third line?

I don't see the point of SKA holding on to Grits if their season is over and he's already bid the fans farewell. It seems like a power move for no reason.

Im lazy but I know who you are. But I saw "Luke Hughes" there.
So go and study Gauthier example. Or Fox.

In case of Gritsyuk - we have example of Demidov right from the same team. So if you have questions about Gritsyuk - go ask Fitzgerald, not me. Its not the insta post only. Rights for Russian players are working near to forever.

And yeah. Mother Russia is great. But "you all suck" sentence is wrong. I really like local party. But some specific people who sh1t on Devils players, or on Russian Devils players etc - yeah, Im not a fan of this kind of dirt.
And mind you, you're the one who got personal once again, avoiding discussing the hockey issue. Conjectural - this is literally the dictionary definition of what you were broadcasting, for some reason trying to broadcast your unreasonable panic to other fans.

I'm sure you know who I am. You had a meltdown on NJDevs calling me a russian-hating xenophobe because I said that penciling Gusev into the top line before he played in a more competitive league was ridiculous.

There are 288 current NHL players who played NCAA hockey and you're dumpster diving for an 8 year old example of a player who didn't want to play for the Carolina Hurricanes lmfao. If you're implying that it's just as difficult to get college hockey players to the NHL as it is to get Russians, you're hilariously misguided.

"Conjecture" is you reading an instagram post and saying "Tom Fizgerald is the problem here, not the fact that he's Russian."

First of all I didnt said "Fitz is problem" I said "its on Fitz side" as I remember. Something about relationships and plans.
Other parts, yeah, Fox just didnt want to play for Carolina. Or Gauthier. Or Wheeler. Or Butcher. Or Kerfoot. Yeah its much easier for teams. Just forget it. It's not worth it. Im done.

I think people are forgetting this is a 23 year old kid who is about to uproot his whole life, the one he's only known to go to a different Country so quickly after his season. He may just want to take his time with the move into the US and not rush it.

You would hope that getting into the NHL is enough but he may feel for him to succeed he needs to do it on his timeline. Get a full summer and camp with the team. Then come over here and look foolish for 3 or 4 games, maybe grab a playoff game or 2, and hurt his stock he has built up over the years in the KHL. I can totally understand it unfortunately.

As of this point, this is a way bigger thing than just Gritsyuk and Fitzgerald.

I’d wait to make any claims on who is or isn’t willing to do what if Bardakov and Nikishin sign with their teams but Gritsyuk still doesn’t.

Unfortunately, Gritsyuk and the two guys above are caught in the middle of how the NHL and KHL deal with the KHL extending contracts through May 31st. NHL and KHL still respect the others contracts without any formal agreement.

So is the NHL willing to compensate KHL teams for getting players to technically leave early on their contracts? If so, how much and where is the line? NHL probably wants to fight back to avoid being extorted here on a case by case basis, but no formal agreement makes this really tricky. The geopolitics of it all doesn’t help either I’m sure.

I mean Gritsytuk clearly wants to come over and Fitzgerald is clearly trying to get him over. Whether it happens when we want is completely out of our hands at this point, there's only so much we can do. SKA has the contract and therefore all the leverage.
