I really hope Gritsyuk has worked on his all-around game enough where he can be plugged into the lineup. The Devils badly needs some middle-six talent that can maybe score, unless we magically get Playoff Palat and Stir the Drink Haula back against the Canes. But it's not worth it if he plays defense like Gusev.

Legit have no idea but whatever, a lot of Russians stay there til their mid-20s on purpose because they have no interest in playing for league minimum and will come over when they can play for 2M (which I hope is what he will get next year considering he has no experience and Devils might be up against the cap).

If they sign him now for the playoff run, he's an RFA next year. I'm not sure what he would expect on want on an RFA contract but obviously will be more than what his ELC will be.

exactly you put the best roster out there because you want to win. you don’t say “we don’t have jack so why bother even trying”

if this guy can help us win in the playoffs you don’t hold him back. the cap will work itself out.

there’s also no guarantee he comes over for a full year of ELC contract next season so this is a good faith move by fitz that maybe had to be done for all we know

The burning a year and going straight to RFA status is moot to me.

Highly unlikely he’s a significant contributor enough to command more than 1.5-2 million next year.

If for whatever reason he joins the team and lights things up, that’s a fantastic problem to have.

Unless he comes in and gets a ppg for the rest of the reg season and they go far in the playoffs and he's at ppg (which all of this is pretty unlikely), he's not getting more than 2 mill. His production in the khl isn't super amazing.

What are some realistic expectations for Gritsyuk over a full season ? There are websites that project or convert KHL production to NHL production but I can’t find any right now .
Is he a 2nd /3rd line tweener type and hoping for 15-20 g and 20a or does he have a higher ceiling than that?
