Prospect Info: #129 Arseny Gritsyuk RW

So SKA plays today and Wednesday and is down 2-0. Can he make it over here by seasons end? Would it be allowed in the CBA?
Yes, the CBA would allow him to join for Game 7 of the Stanley Cup final if it came to that but SKA would have to terminate his contract, it won't expire until May 31. I'd imagine they would considering the pay cut he took for the team earlier this season.

Then it’s LFG Dynamo!!! The failure in SKA will be rewarded in NJ!

I don't follow the Canes closely but I have to imagine that we'd benefit way more from getting Gritsyuk than they would Nikishin, based solely on current roster depth. Haula's on the 2nd line right now any upgrade we can get at forward is huge lol
We dont know how exactly both will translate their game especially from the start, but Nikishin(on paper) can make their third pair as better as put them on the second pair level.
And yeah, I understand your idea overall - we are too thin in forward depth so even Glass addition looked like we added top-6 level player. (may be Gritsyuk knows something about Nikishin's heel).

I would be happy to finally see Arseniy in Devils roster, hope Fitz and him are in good relationships to make it happen. So of course Im waiting for it.

@Guadana Do you think Gritsyuk will ultimately be a better fit to play with Jack or Nico?
I think he would be better with Nico but you never know with chemistry. But you should not listen to me. I think Jack should play with best versions of Coleman and this kind of players, I believe a lot of people will not agree with me.

I'd just as soon let him finish his KHL season and train all summer and come over to the NHL next season. This isn't the season to go all in as I see it. For better or worse Cody Glass is going to play a top six role in the playoffs. Thomas Tatar is one injury away from being in a top six role in the playoffs. Palat is almost certainly in a top six role in the playoffs. I'd rather Gritsyuk have a preseason camp and full regular season to acclimate to the NHL before dropping him into a playoff environment. Just my thought.

I think Gritsyuk himself would definitely be better with Jack over Nico. Whether that’s a better fit probably depends on how you construct everything else. While I agree with the Coleman take (I was asking for Noesen to play there all year) I don’t think I’d want Jack with 2 Coleman’s. I think I’d at least want one other guy who can help him create

Personally my ideal view of the forwards next year probably wouldn’t have Gritsyuk playing with either of them. Bratt’s long proven he can drive a line by himself and this recent stretch of dominance without Jack just furthers that point. My dream scenario would be to dump Dougie and throw his money at Ehlers. Ehlers can also drive his own line so have him or Bratt with Jack as a pair, Timo-Nico obviously as a pair then other of Ehlers/Bratt with Grits on a 3rd line. There’s literally no handling us being able to send those 3 lines out there

Im going from the ground where Jack is already playing with Bratt. So I think they need "Coleman". Of course if Fitz will find dominant player who can play active forechecking role - its even better.

I dont think that Keefe will use three different lines with good player, may be if only Devils will find top-6 level center for the third line. He is always trying to play better players together mostly.

So I would prefer to throw money and assets in center. But its a discussion for different topic.

I think Gritsyuk, even as a good board player for his level of competition, still not true active forechecker who roll a lot, cut the lanes for opponents and the space around the puck movement. But Gritsyuk is creative enough with the puck and have a good shot so I would add something of this to the Nico line if Bratt(or even Ehlers) is playing with Jack already.

Anyway I dont think that it will hurt Devils if Fitz will add one more top-6 level forward. Timo-Nico-Bratt, Gritsyuk-Jack-top-6 player? I really dont worry who will play with whom mostly. They just need to find money for another top-6 forward(or very good center to make more depth and use three Nico-Timo, Jack-Bratt, (2B level)3c-Gritsyuk pairs or something like that) and sign Luke and... thats all. We are already have everything. May be some shake up of the bottom lines. But with Gritsyuk and (2B level)3C\ new TOP-6 level wing it will not be that important.

I think you need to sort of know what you're getting going into this offseason

Tbf I don't think Keefe has ever had more than 4 good forwards on either the Devils or the Leafs lol. That probably plays somewhat into things. Also IIRC there were times he had Matthews-Marner on one line, JT on another, and tried out Nylander in the middle. So he has at least tried spreading things out at times. I think if we were to add another top 6er then they should at least try Bratt driving the 3rd line. Then both Grits and the top 6 add in the top 6. I

I think if you have Bratt with Jack you could really go either way with Grits. Try him with both of the lines and see how it goes. I also think Grits is probably talented enough to be the secondary creator with Jack if you were to load up with Bratt on Nico's line.

Yeah we really don't have much room. I'd be pretty shocked if Haula's not dumped but his money will just go into the 3C still leaving nothing for a top 6 add. Adding Grits and improving the 3C will give you a better forward core but it still leaves me wanting more. I'd like to dump all of Palat/Dougie/Haula and AGGRESSIVELY upgrade the forwards. I think Palat will be such a hard move though. Then for Dougie idk if they'd even want to move him. I've talked ad nauseam though that I think it's smarter to move him and upgrade up front. Especially since you likely won't be able to move on from Palat.

Ehlers will obviously be one of the most sought after UFAs. Signing him would be a dream scenario but of course there will be heavy competition, especially with the Cap substantially going up. I feel like he would be perfect for Jack.

Any attractive UFA centers? I see Bennett and Donato…

PIUS SUTER! The fact he isn’t currently a Devil pisses me the f*** off. I wanted that guy so bad during the 2023 summer. Instead he somehow went unsigned into August then only signed for 1.6x2.

I think Bennett will be even more sought after than Ehlers. I think Donato’s a big risk. I also don’t see Donato as a 3C. He’s not good defensively and isn’t a much of a driver offensively. He’s been a great shot generator, finisher, and overall 5v5 producer this year though. I think if you sign Donato he’s a top 6W add

I think they've missed the boat on him at this point. He's broken out and will likely finish with 45+ points and already has 20 goals. Some team will overpay him this summer. You generally have to get these guys before they break out.

I think we will see how it goes it depends how FItz will figure it out. Reason its hard to understand where we should try to use Grits. Imagine(crazy but still) the trade of Hamilton, Nemec/Casey and 1st round pick for Petterson the Center(just imagine, lets not discuss it) - Devils will have salary cap, winger to create three lines or load two lines as hard as they can. If Devils will add center - its one story, if its winger - its different story.

Yeah, Keefe mostly never had good depth. And we can see that now we can live without Hamilton - its a loss for offense but still we have defensemen to develop and play but we dont have forwards. Its better to make a move in time when we have an opportunity to make a move. May be Hamiltons actual injury will not help with it. Its only two years on a Palats deal so I dont see really big problem to move him, especially with some minor retention. Perry signed for 4 mil in Chicago and from what I hear Palat is a family guy so Bedards mom should be in safe. Overall Palat wasnt very healthy man so... his salary isnt close to penalty minimum, may be we can have him over the cap and than send him to ltir list. We saw how gms move players every time they need. So i guess Fitz will find a way to open the cap space.

What I dont like is the situation where there will be A LOT MORE free money on the market than good players. So Im really happy that Gritsyuk is so close to join the Devils. Because its not that easy to find good player on the market when the market is full of buyers.

Probably which annoys me even more. With the Swiss connects we probably would’ve been able to keep him around at a more reasonable contract had he been here already.
