Im 37, If it weren't for my knees being jacked from hockey injuries and surgeries, I feel great over all. My brother is 35 and still skateboards...he is also coming off an ACL surgery...runs in the family i guess, or its the territory of being active and playing sports in your late 30's.

I paint balled for a decent amount of time after I turned 25. Then I stopped. I know for a fact if it started today, I’d be hurt tomorrow. If I never stopped I’d probably be fine. It’s the gap between that kills.

That's the key. I took off for extended time three times and it kicked my ass.

1. 2018, tore my acl, mcl and meniscus. - 9 months
2. 2020-2021 - Covid year. Shady rink manager kept the rink running during covid, teams kept playing but i took the year off as I was concerned about my medically complex son getting covid. about 10 months - this was the worst. My endurance was shot, gained weight.
3. Tore my other ACL and Meniscus in 2023. I never got the acl fixed but did the meniscus - missed about 3 months. I took it as an opportunity to lose some weight, this helped with the comeback.

I turned 35 a couple weeks back, and when my dad called me to say happy birthday, he opened with "So, you're officially closer to 40 than you are to 30, right?" and I kinda hate him for that.

I too turned 35 about two weeks ago and a colleague of mine (older than me) welcomed me at work saying "so that's the first half of life done". Haven't spoken to him since
My dad just said "you're finally halfway to my age" and that was just confusing (re: how to feel)

Turn 34 in a few days... tbh up until maybe 2 years ago I felt absolutely perfect, like exactly the same as I had in early and mid 20s (and had the same rough fitness empirically as well)...

somehow avoided any real aches and pains so far despite a big injury list. But definitely notice just being more tired and less energetic than I was a few years ago.

Still have a somewhat delusional dream that I am going to get back to the fitness levels I had even two years ago and try and make a push to play for Portugal at water polo when eligible! (should only be 2 years away I guess) As even 1 game would be very cool. But yeh, can feel that is going to be harder than it would have been even a couple of years ago.

My boss is in his early 50s and runs ultramarathons etc and time wise etc is right around where he was at age 35 still from what he has said (and I believe him)... he said the key is once you get to your late 30s to basically not have even a week off and dont give yourself excuses... as he had some time off in his 40s and it took him months to get back to where he was.

I remember being confused at Jagr basically exercising 24/7 and figured there must have been some kind of addiction to it in his brain, but probably not. I am learning the same thing as your boss, missing a week is extremely noticeable when you start up again

lol she has been formally diagnosed with anxiety. At 8 years old.

On being told, she selected one of her stuffed toys and declared it to be her Emotional Support Thing.

Behold, an Emotional Support Sushi:

I've got no idea where she came up with this idea. We figured the psychiatrist suggested it. The psych says she did no such thing and never said those words.

Not sure it's working so good, though. She has had some sleepless nights because she's afraid her Emotional Support Sushi could get burned up if the house catches fire while she's sleeping, so if anything she's more anxious now.

I have a question...is she made of wood? Does she float like a duck?

I’m 48 and this is right on. I stopped exercising a couple years ago and I started feeling like crap. I am just starting to get back into shape and the recovery is brutal.

Got to love service fees. A PGA ticket fee, a seatgeek service fee and a 10% town amusement fee...can't believe they still get away with all this nonsense. An additional $55 per ticket in fees
