Star Wars starts off with long ago in a galaxy far far away, does that imply that Earth exists and that something happened after the events of all the Star Wars canon that resets technology back to “the cavemen era” across the galaxies?

Why is it that any time you make a sizable purchase immediately after some other big expense pops up?

Happened to me today.

Made that big purchase and then at 8PM I get an email saying that my AC unit “likely failed to cool my home” today as it ran from noon until 4:30 and it got 4 degrees warmer.

The units are 24 years old so they’re at or beyond their lifespan but just hoping to get another year out of them (like every year).

HCette was working from home and had her heater on under her desk (le sigh) like eight feet from the thermostat so I know in all likelihood that’s the reason for that today but just something more real to worry about.

I came inside from looking at the unit outside and HCette signals for me to come into the bathroom and the toilet tank on the main floor bathroom is cracked. Likely from Thatcher Venmo slamming the toilet seat or yanking the lever.

Le sigh.

Weirdly, the "Long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away" is meant to be R2-D2 recounting his adventures thousands of years in the future of the Skywalker saga events.

This was confirmed by Lucas, himself, or someone in his orbit (I can't remember who).

But, it does beg the question... how did R2-D2 end up in a galaxy far, far away?

What sort of battery lasts that long? I don’t think I’ve seen a droid charging before

You might be able to just buy a replacement tank and a tank to bowl gasket kit.
If not, toilets are incredibly easy to replace, it’s just messy. I can talk you through it if you want.

I’ve replaced a tank before but this tank looks to be discontinued and from what Google tells me there isn’t really a replacement out there.

American Standard 4266 if you know better.

Color?

I’m afraid price is going to kill this idea, but they can still be found in some places. For example:

What the official term is I don’t know but it’s white white.

Not the bone white.

You’re right though about price, a new toilet would be cheaper than that tank which then brings in the question would I rather pay for the tank knowing I can do it myself or pay for a whole new toilet and installation because while it may be easy for others it’s probably above my pay grade.

I could probably do it but I won’t be able to trust that I did it right.

Every one I can find is marked up to hell and back. Some are 300+. I’m sure that’s why they’re still available.

I'd really consider giving it a shot. I just found out a tenant in one of the properties I work on at times just paid $700 to get a toilet swapped. Even including the price of the toilet, that's insane to me. I probably would have charged 100-150 and been out of there in an hour or so.

They really aren't that hard and the directions are actually easy to follow with well labeled parts, unlike most things these days. Good luck man.

Congrats!

@Cody Webster and I are currently getting stomped in a division that our team should not be in. Last night our team, 9 skaters, got beat by a team that only had 5 skaters. I cannot wait for this season to be over.
We're now in a division for the summer season with teams I've never heard of. That's probably a bad sign.

Luckily, they re-tier once in the summer, so we'll get moved down if things aren't going well.

If it’s not normal white, it’s never going to match. Colored tile or porcelain that has been aging for over 10 years will be a different shade then what you would replace it with.
It is easy but it can also be easy to mess up. Get a quote over the phone, measure from your closet bolts(holding the toilet down) from the center to the wall(normal is 12” but they have 10 and 14” and sometimes lazy plumbers will throw in a 12 when a 14 is needed). Tell them you want a 12”(or your measurement) rough American standard(or your choice of brand) round(or oval) toilet with a new flex line(always replace flex lines be it gas or water) and that you have a working shutoff valve(or don’t say that if you don’t). Take their price and compare to your ability to do things. It takes about an hour to change out, but if you get a plumber you don’t have to worry about getting rid of the old toilet.
