Tip of hertl's stick went through his cat-eye cage, and struck him in, or near his eye. Sure as **** didn't look good.

Yeowch. Hope the best for him. I know it's not the safest helmet but it still takes a stroke of bad luck for that to happen...

Doesn't have to be blood according to the rule:

60.3 Double-minor Penalty - When a player carries or holds any part of
his stick above the shoulders of the opponent so that injury results,
the Referee shall assess a double-minor penalty for all contact that
causes an injury, whether accidental or careless, in the opinion of the
Referee.

An injury very obviously occurred since Bishop was in pain and left the ice. And it's a penalty even if it was an accident which it clearly was.

Calling the high stick would have been wrong. No ref saw it as it was in very close and not near the puck. It would have been a guess and based only on seeing the result which is totally improper.

Yeah, it should have been a high stick.

Condra's goal shouldn't have counted and neither penalty that resulted in Kucharov's 5-3 goal were legit, so I think it evened out...
