1. Igor isn't better, but he is overpaid. Lul.
2. It's nice to see our farm team tank to fill our cupboards.
3. Cooper is lucky to have so many HOFers on his team. It's unreal how he's so bad yet I was told 25 games in he should've been fired. I can't believe I'm witnessing the team progress as if they have 82 games to improve? Weird. Anywhere, paging Professor Bartledoo, I need another course in How To Hockey.
I'll take my hit on Coop, for now, but you were the one who said the team just isn't good enough. You said it over and over again. I was the one arguing that the roster was better than were playing and that we were underachieving and it looks like I was right so I suggest you think before you speak.

The subway is great. Would you like to end up 2 blocks away from any location in a massive city for 3 bucks?

All the bad shit in NYC gets amplified nationally to make it seem way worse than it is. Fact is no matter where you are in NYC you'll be within 10 blocks of the best restaurant you've ever eaten in your life, tons of interesting stuff to do, and most of the stuff you'll ever need (referring to Manhattan here). The trade off is you live in a closet, which does suck but that's the deal.
Why are people not being burned alive or killed in the street in Tokyo?

I remember when I was a kid we picked up my cousins at the airport and they had us stop the car to look at cows. I knew then that NYC wasn’t for me. Simply too cramped for this guy, a cocktail of majesty and blight you can’t avoid. Everyone is different though

We are the highest scoring team in the entire league! Technically Jets have scored a few more, but we have four games on them.

It just feels things have improved along the way after the slow start, hope they can continue on this path, very impressed so far!
Part of it is the competition. I believe it was @Rschmitz who pointed out how tough our early schedule was. Now it's evening out and we have played a string of bad teams. And for the most part we have treated them like bad teams.

Our offense is just head and shoulders above what it was last year. But you have to keep in mind that, last year, the entire team except Kucherov took 3/4 of the season off.

Our entire top 6 is on pace for 50 points. And we could plausibly see 3 guys top 100. That's insane. I don't know if the Pens ever did that with Petr Nedved. You might have to go all the way back to the 80s to find a team with three guys over 100 points.

Oilers did it two years ago. RNH hit 104 or something.

The bottom six still sucks. Girgensons has 0 goals in 30 something games. We have a warm body in it. It's not good enough for playoffs and I stand by it. Vasy has been Vasy, the defense has gotten its head out of its ass, and the top six is rolling. You propose this false dichotomy with a surface level approach and simply double down that you're right when you were laughably wrong.

It's actually hilarious. Not to mention, you and one other person were beating that drum and you haven't surfaced since Thanksgiving. Yet, everybody here wants to add to the bottom six because they see the deficiencies. But yes, keep telling yourself you're right.

Idk 4th line is fine. For a fourth line they take surprisingly heavy work and nothing really happens during it. Would love a bit more offense but honestly don't care much.

I'm with you that currently it's a moment of neutralizing the opponent, but come playoff time I don't think it's up to par. When the 4th can't be counted on as depth, thats difficult. The third line really is a mash up of whoever but I'd like to see someone legit with Paul and Chaffee as well. Ideally a bottom size winger with size and speed.

Ah forgot about him. Haha I actually checked Hyman and forgot RNH.

I think a top6 add solves the problem. I'm not really expecting numbers out of Geekie this year, but if Paul ends up in the bottom 6, because we acquire someone better suited to the top6, we end up improving the middle-six all at once.

I much prefer a defensively responsible 4th line that we can play up the opponent's lineup than whatever the Perry/Bellemare/Maroon or Motte/Glenndenning/Jeannot lines were. If we can manage to swing a solid 2rw (which at this point just needs to be a mild contributor with how much Hagel & Cirelli carry) and a 3lw I'll feel super confident in this lineup.

It seems pretty clear that we are a good team. Our record against other good teams seems/feels (meaning I haven't researched this) pretty good, and now that we are playing lower teams, we are stomping them more often than we aren't.

I mean, the cup years were pipe dream rosters. On paper, those were some all time teams, and I think you'd have to look pre-cap to find teams that were clearly better. It's not realistic to expect to be at that level, but luckily you don't need to be THAT good to win a cup.

I think we are a fringe contender and we are maybe one piece away from being a legit contender. I think we still have a few too many guys who are going to struggle to understand just how grueling the playoffs are, and how much you have to fight through.

When you have Girgensons (Buf), Geekie, Goncalves, Eyssimont and someone like Atkinson as 3 or 4 regulars in your bottom six, yes, it's gonna be a struggle. No shade on the rookies, but there's the huge unknown of how they'd do. There's just too much that's known of the bottom six to be underwhelming along with a looming quantity of whats unknown by guys who will get 10-15mins a night come playoffs. Acquiring a middle six, or at the very least a bottom six winger that's ACTUAL NHL material would help - a lot.
