Gionta had his whole back leg onside...but his skate isnt on the ice so they have to take away that awesome play and goal;that Gionta had nothing to do with.

Hockey: fun? Or most fun?

I don't like the coaches challenge at all but the reviews on the offsides are at least pretty objective, the goalie interference challenges however are completely subjective and are done with absolutely no consistency.

Probably time to scrap it all together, but if they kept just the offside portion I probably wouldn't complain. It could definitely use some adjusting though (i.e. a time limit that the goal has to occur following the missed offside before it no longer matters).

Why should a pretty goal like that count? This is the NHL.

Brb in a month or two, gotta go comb the archives so I can count the REAL points achieved by Gretzky, Lemieux, etc.

**** this rule. and why doesn't the plane of the line matter like it does in the NFL, especially when just the act of skating put Gionta offside even though a good chunk of his body was still onside?

Actually now that I think about it more I'd rather they just scrap the challenge all together. I understand they want to get calls right, and I can understand on blatant offsides why they should be reviewable. But it kills the entertainment value. Anytime my team scores off a rush instead of just feeling pure excitement I find myself worrying that maybe it was offside and will be challenged.

While true, where does the line get crossed? A player is sitting behind the opposing teams net, offside, and his teammate goes end to end to score - that should count..?

So many of these offside goals would have gone unnoticed if the offside challenge didn't exist. The league has to pick their battles with which goals need to be challenged or not.

Offsides is not one of them.

Good goal for sure, puck was loose and the player was in the crease trying to play it.

IIRC you're allowed to crash the net if the goalies in the way if its a loose puck as long as you don't stop him from making a save. Plus Hoffman ****ing pushed him in lol

Lol tbh I was too busy arguing with you so I didn't get a good look, so I can't even answer that question truthfully.

Pageau, jesus christ...go figure. What a ****ing piece of ****

Epic save by ticker

edit: and another one, he's putting on a show

Lazar with a stupid head shot

The PK Subban show...3 clearing attempts shut down by him

As unbiased as it can get

I agree for the most part, except when you get calls like this which are completely unacceptable.

This will forever remain as the funniest picture posted on this forum, never fails to make me laugh

The videos even better. Duchene stops for half a second cause he knows he's offside, then is like "oh no whistle? Ok" and goes in and scores. Ref just gives the old "Yep looks good to me".

Kelly Hrudrey on Anderson getting pulled on a goal that was reversed "I've never seen that happen before."

Then following that with "it happened in Calgary last week."

You'd think they could use something similar to that technology we see on Tennis courts to call the ball IN/OUT...

But compared to other sports, we're still far behind. Jesus, even Cricket has some topnotch tech to review calls.
