Did everyone have a good Christmas? Happy boxing day to you weirdos
Brother came in from Colorado so we had a nice time. Gave him a puck that said best man instead of "first NHL goal" on the tape. Was a good time. Got drunk, got high. Saw the whole family the next day for 7 fishes on Christmas eve. More drinking.

Fiancee and I did Christmas with the dogs on Christmas Day then went to work that night. She got me a new helmet and which is integral to not breaking my face during LASIK recovery and leading up to the wedding. We did the Philly Special puzzle while we put on Elf and Christmas Vacation that came with the Philly Christmas Special vinyl and we want to frame it but tragically we're missing/lost 2 pieces 😭😭😭😭😭

That's what we did, it was incredible.

Stuffed calamari
Bacon wrapped shrimp with a mayo/horsey/mustard sauce
Fresh oysters
Salmon with a dill sauce
Cioppino which had calamari, oysters, shrimp, mussels, clams and scallops

Lordy

This is how it's done.

Isn't that bacon-wrapped shrimp called "Shrimp Lejun" or something like that? Good God, that's one of my favorites.

Never tried Cioppino, but dying to have it one day. Was the calamari stuffed with crabmeat or was it something else?

We hosted Christmas Day and I made 3 pans of Lasagna and Pasta Fagioli. My house is in rough shape this morning.
My brother came over and cooked dinner and used every pot and pan in our house, about 4 times over, so that was fun. I was moving chairs back to their original location in the house, cleaning up wrapping paper, mopping the floor. Taking a gummy and listening to some music made it a bit better lol

It was easier to host with the 14 month old rather than traveling to wherever and having to get her home in time for bed and all that.

Seven fishes on Christmas Eve?
The wife's family doesn't really like seafood, so no seven fishes. Her parents brought over a turkey breast and a ham from Honeybaked, both were cold, and pretty terrible tbh. Her dad did make like 6 different apps which were pretty good and I filled up on those for the most part

So it looks like I have Covid and it has been kicking my ass since Monday. It's like a rollercoaster. This morning my sheets looked like I got out of a pool and laid in them. The headaches are episodic but torturous.....the worst of the symptoms besides fatigue, dry cough etc.

Of course covid will be a walk in the park if Bird Flu becomes the next pandemic. Can't wait to see how bungled the management of it will become. This society will go insane and we'll probably be told to eat bird seed as a cure...

I got covid a couple months back and took Paxlovid, which seemed to help reduce/shorten my symptoms. I say seemed because I really don't know how bad it would have been without it. I did start it pretty early on, maybe 2 days after symptoms started and I tested positive. I will say the meds left the most horrific taste in my mouth while taking them.

Yeah my mom took Paxlovid and couldn't handle it. I think I may be too far into the infection to take it now. I just thought it was a cold but then it became apparent after day 3 that it was not..

So far I feel a little better than the last 4 days but worry about the rebound effects still....

Gave it to my gf unfortunately and she isn't having fun either. Her daughter is visiting her from college and can't do much with her...

Chasm of Sar (north of Montreal, Qc)
'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a forum homie was stirring, not even a mouse;
The memes were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that Cornboy Jojo soon would be there;
The homies were nestled all snug in their threads;
While visions of Torts being fired danced in their heads;
And MSE in his ten gallon hat , and BernieParent in his gavroche,
Had just hibernated our PCs for a long winter's nap,
When out on the forums there arose such a clatter,
The Child, Thatcher Venmo and Starat Jr sprang from their beds to see what was the matter.
Away to the web browser they flew like Sarge,
Tore the conditional picks many at large.
The moon on the crest of the fourth line grinders,
Gave a dullness of grit to the team below,
When what to their wondering eyes did appear,
But a lot of tassels and eight American trucks,
With a pinky held out with decorum and mojo ,
They knew in a moment he must be Cornboy Jojo.
More rapid than Eagles fans to WIP they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name:
"Now, Beef Invictus! now, Lord Defect! now Jack Straw and Magua!
On, Panther! on, trostol! on, Striiker and pit!
To the top of the corn stalk ! to the top of them all!
Now detassel away! detassel away! detassel away all!"
As husks that before the Aho's hurricane fly,
When they meet with hockey dinosaurs, still clinging to the old;
So up to the forums the stats they flow
With the flatbed full of memes, and Cornboy Jojo too—
And then, in a twinkling, they heard on the roof
The stomping and echoing of each fancy boot.
As they drew in their head, and was turning around,
Down the forums Cornboy Jojo came with a hound.
He was dressed all in finery, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with tassels and soot;
A bundle of stats he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a cornboy just opening his sack.
His eyes—how they gleamed ! his dimples , how merry!
His cheeks were like berries , his nose like a tomato of cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard on his chin was as white as the snow;
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke, it encircled his head like a jet sweep ;
He had a dapper face and a small round belly
That jiggled when he chuckled, like a bowl full of jelly.
He was joyful and fancy, a right jolly old lad,
And they laughed when they saw him, in spite of themselves;
A wink of his eye and a twist of his mead
Soon gave them to know they had nothing to dread;
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings; then turned with a jerk,
And laying his pinky aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the boards he rose;
He sprang to his truck, to his team gave a brew,
And away they all flew like the HF Flyers crew.
But they heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight—
“Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah and Happy Holidays to the HF Flyers homies. May your holidays be merry and drama free.

Iykyk on the references above.

Revengeeeeeeeee is mine Jojo.
You never disappoint, China, and I love that you have added the next generation! Great job!

Damn, feel better man!!!

Both times I had Covid, and after each vaccination also, I had a stabbing pain behind my right eye. It was only that eye, never the other. I also described my first bout with Covid as that it felt like somebody dumped gasoline into my sinus cavities and lit it on fire. The fever was crazy also. I put the thermostat to 57 and had fans blowing on me and still felt like I was burning up.

The shit is just so nasty. Me and my gf are having different symptoms for the most part. The headaches alone make you go insane. I think though I may be turning the corner but who knows. I am surprised I didn't have more sinus congestion...been spared that somehow. Your sinus episode sounds like my worst nightmare.

My sinuses weren't as bad the second time, different variant, I guess. I remember both times that whenever I needed to cough I learned to press my palms against my temples beforehand. If I didn't, it felt like an ice pick was being jabbed into the side of my skull.

It sucks. I've been there, and hope to never experience it again. Seriously, I hope you feel better! That stuff is no joke.
