Sorry for the loss. I know the pain, it sucks. My brother in law and his wife didn’t wait that long but I also know people who waited a year. You do it when you’re ready

Sorry to hear the sad news. I actually got the 2 dogs I have now before my older dog passed, because I knew it would crush me. And it really helped having these two, even though it was still miserable.

But like others have said, when you're ready. And by "ready" I mean when you want to. One friend of mine who lost her dog about a year after I lost mine got another almost right away. Another friend still hasn't gotten another and it's been a couple years now I think (there are family considerations there- travel, etc...).
