Banking crisis was deferred with SVB for a bit....now picking up speed again. Federal Reserve doing a bang up job and their little mea culpa (" admits some of the blame") the other day saying they didn't do enough in their regulatory function and that the deregulation under the previous admin played a part is typical revisionist garbage from them

The Fed admits some of the blame for Silicon Valley Bank's failure in scathing report

A couple days after Ye Olde Meat was carved out by a bloodthirsty robot, I noticed if I touched or leaned on my right leg, there was numbness in the area between thigh and quad. Today it has become noticeable whether it's being touched or not, and is kind of uncomfortable. I am more aware of my leg than I ought to be.

Per my surgeon, the way it's presenting is probably nerve issues caused by the violent machine that ripped into me so ruthlessly. Doctor Father notes there is a chance of it being a blood clot in the leg due to timing and location, but it would be an unusual presentation. I've been advised to hit the ER just to rule out the clot possibility.

Be on top of your bodily issues people.

Had a meniscus removed in 78, cut and hack, this was before even arthroscopic surgery. For six months I had a numb area on the outside of my shin. When I scratched the scar, I felt it in the numb area. No such issue when I had the knee replaced in 2019. Good luck, and best to rule out the worst case.

What order should you read Tom Clancy in? I’m leaning on starting the jack Ryan series.
I started reading Clancy in 1989 while in 9th grade and I think Hunt for Red October was the only book he'd written at the time. I've read every Jack Ryan book since. The books aren't written in chronological order either. I recommend reading them in chronological order. There are websites that list the books in order. I think Clancy has been dead long enough that there are more Jack Ryan books are written by other authors than by Clancy. Some are better than others. The more recent books became formulaic. My 15 year old self was so fascinated by Red October. I think it was the first adult book I'd ever read. By the way, there are 33 books in the Ryan universe and he is not in every one.

I sometimes click reply while scrolling. This website keeps that queued up in the reply until I hit submit, even if I delete it.
Since the update I have been unable to delete a quoted person, it’s annoying.

Actually true... The future is really going to bleak. Any company that can have a job performed by something that isn't a human and needs a salary will shift it to that entity once it becomes economically viable.

Posted a similar article upthread but this one offers more insight. Good luck regulating this ...we can't even regulate banks.

Heard Hinton in an NPR interview too. The thing that really stuck there was that AI will surpass human intelligence and there is no instance where a less intelligent being controls a more intelligent one....

He added: "I've come to the conclusion that the kind of intelligence we're developing is very different from the intelligence we have.

"We're biological systems and these are digital systems. And the big difference is that with digital systems, you have many copies of the same set of weights, the same model of the world.

"And all these copies can learn separately but share their knowledge instantly. So it's as if you had 10,000 people and whenever one person learnt something, everybody automatically knew it. And that's how these chatbots can know so much more than any one person."

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced the 2023 inductees. The performers:

Kate Bush (I'm good with this, even though she is not "rock and roll")
Sheryl Crow (Really? For what amounts to one song/album?)
Missy Elliott (Um, really?)
George Michael (Yeah, I'm okay with this)
Willie Nelson (I'm good with this. Willie spans more than the County music genre)
Rage Against the Machine (Not my cup of tea, but I am surprised they had such a short wait)
The Spinners (Absolutely)

Others:

Musical Influence Award:
DJ Kool Herc
Link Wray ('bout time)

Musical Excellence Award:
Chaka Khan (good with all of these)
Al Kooper
Bernie Taupin

Ahmet Ertegun Award:
The Impossibly Smooth Don Cornelius (Legend)

I think my neighbors shoot off fireworks with larger explosions than this drone to be honest.

My absolutely uneducated guess is: Look what we were able to do; imagine if we dropped a real bomb.

Or the Russians staging a false attack to try to keep the anti-world rhetoric up.
