Wouldn't be a bad idea but was his first game back so who knew how his conditioning be but we have to figure something on 3 on 3.Well, no full metal jacket. How about an OT straitjacket? On a pos note, Motte was right there with Bagel on the tieing goal. . Hey, why not 64, 38, and 77 in OT?
They didn't sit back and Point and Kucherov were aggressive on Toronto's puck carrier, forcing them to retreat into their own zone. That was good and different. Our man on man defending in our own zone was horrendous. Not sure how that big of a hole opened up for Toronto.the whole team including the coaches should be embarrassed. That was almost even more pathetic of an ot than before.
We just don't know what Vasy we're getting back, and how much he can do early on. A stronger goaltender will no doubt help, but if we're asking him to bail us out every night, we're still in trouble. The team in front is still the bigger issue than the guy in net imo. They've shown us they can play better. They played better than Toronto for most of the first meeting in October. They dominated in the first period tonight. They can do it. They can be a good team. I just don't know how you get them to mentally commit to it.Vassy is a big part of this team for a reason.
He'll be a huge boost when he comes back.
While the stat doesn't necessarily indicate how things are going, Serg, the 8.5 million dman, now has 0 goals, 6 points and is a -9 in 12 gp. Tampa's big 3 dmen are all negative as well, but the next worst is Cernak at a -2.we should beg nashville to give mcdonagh back to us. they can have sergachev

Our overtime ineptitude is becoming legendary. It would seem to defy all odds, statistical probabilities, going game after game with ever touching the puck. It's pitiful.
Equally tiring is watching the same game every time we play Toronto. We chase Samsonov, lose a big lead, go to OT, and then look like a 2 year old trying to play football with his dad.
I thought Sergachev was just having a slow start to the season, but I'm starting to wonder if he's actually regressed, like Perbix. I have to think he will at least return to last year's form at some point here. Barre-Boulet looked pretty ineffectual for most of the game.
Heddy, Hagel and Kucherov have been the highlights of the season thus far.
coaches need to start getting some serious flack for the d coverage bullshit. Whoever thought this new scheme was a good idea should get immediately canned.
Our zone exits are so weird. And we even have the luxury of having personnel capable of skating it out of the zone easy peasy like Hedman, Serg, Raddysh but instead we ring it around and the receiving forward straight up misses the puck or gets overpowered by the forecheck.stamkos had one of the worst games ive ever seen him play, and the defensive zone egress strategy isn't working.
the defensive zone exit strategy is a team stat, the defense man keep ringing it up the boards (as coached, id imagine), and the forwards are not getting the pucks. whether its just a bad execution, bad strategy, bad clear, or bad forward defensive zone play is something only the coaches know (as the designer of the scheme) id say something needs to be done. sit those that aren't complying or being lazy, or change the scheme to work with the talent you got.
Teams figure it out. They just defend the boards to create chances on the clear. Our zone exits are so weird. Is it? Seems like every division except the pacific is in the same situation. We're only like 10-12 games into the season.2-7 in our division is literally a 3 pt difference that's absolutely insane.
