They need to make that reviewable because the ref behind the goal is trying to keep his eyes on the puck and can not reliably see when someone gets pushed into the goalie.

You would think since a goal resulted they should be allowed to review the play. The NFL reviews every single score even if it is obvious.

Edit: Maybe have a 3rd official watching the monitor and every single goal scored is reviewed. Just a quick glance even at obvious ones take no time at all. Refs have an ear piece in and the upstairs official radios down "Good goal, needs more review or no goal"

A place.
I had some great insight on the no goal main board thread "Actually reviewing this video right after the :15 second mark St. Laurent gestures that the face-off will be at the left attacking face-off dot. Of course, with goalie interference the face-off would come out of the zone which it eventually did. "

My eye has literally started twitching. The ref made no such contact call when blowing the play dead, obviously. He evidently pulled it out of his ass when Toronto told him the puck had crossed the line.

Add that ref to the naughty list.

The game was a beautiful reminder for this team to keep playing their game. Last night they went about it way too cautiously. Ended up making more mistakes than in any game this season so far.

Wait, what happened to Parise? Went to sleep after two periods.

There wasn't an obvious injury but there were a couple of bad hits that may have caused one. Upper body, could be the dreaded 'C' word.

Not sure what to make of that game. No Spurgeon or Cooke isn't a good enough excuse because they're not as important as guys like Suter or Parise or so on. Parise was out for portion of the game but I believe we were already being beat.

First period was crap all around from both teams with only a few shots a side. They got a garbage at the end of the first which hurt. Their PP also hurt us some bad penalties I think.

They are possibly the best team in the East so there's that too. We outshot them a good bit as well.

So as I said not sure what to make of that game.

The question is, could we beat a team like that in a 7 game Stanley Cup Finals? I don't know if we could, but it's possible seeing we out shot them quite a bit. Need to stay out of the box though because it's evident they do have one of the top PP in the league.

missed the game but sounds like the better team won. i still think we are a top ten team but not yet a top 5. other posters rip on me for looking for players to possibly upgrade however this team needs a few improvements and this game was a measuring stick.

I don't blame too much our top guys because we played power against power and it seems they canceled each other out. Their bottom-6 outperformed ours.

Just watched the game. That no goal call was one of the worst blown calls I've witnessed in a while. Yes, there was contact with Greiss, no question, but Granlund was pushed into him. Furthermore, it cost us like 10 seconds of our PP when the whistle wasn't blown.

All in all, a very frustrating game that should've been at least a point.

According to the rule book if a player is pushed into the goalie, then the goal should be allowed. Whatever. Game is over. Just hate that rule.

So you mean the same call that got Colorado a few goals against us, yet we've now had what? 2 waived off for the same thing?

Jarick

Doing Nothing
I thought the call was fine. We've had three calls reversed our way.

Wild lost because they didn't show up the first two periods. They started working in the third, but the PP was a complete failure again.

Top line hasn't been a force for several games now at even strength. I don't want to see Parise gone because he's the engine of the team and that line (and as Russo calls him the heart and soul of the team). I'm curious to see Vanek on that line though.

Granlund and Pommer have been passengers far more often than not the last couple weeks. They need to get on it. I don't think Vanek will be the answer because he's the biggest passenger on the team, but it's worth a shot.

Koivu had a good game. Zucker/Coyle weren't much of a factor again. So Koivu's had a good game every other game now, hopefully he can find some consistency. I still don't think Coyle adds much to that line offensively and Zucker is getting pushed around facing the tough matchups, but what can you do.

Vanek...just awful. Again, turnovers, not getting shots through, stupid plays. He and Nino together seem to bring out the worst in each other. Brodz helps that line work a little, but he just has brick hands so the plays die.

I didn't notice the fourth line at all.

Dumba and Prosser need to go away. Just awful plays by the tonight. Dumba is not ready for the NHL. He will have a good game sandwiched by 2-3 bad games. Turnovers, mistakes, mis-reading the play. He needs to gain experience in Iowa, not cost the Wild points.

Prosser doesn't add anything. At his best, he does nothing negative. Tonight, again, turnovers and mis-reading plays.

Kuemper as well, he doesn't look ready for a 50+ game starter. He's been letting in a lot of soft goals lately. He can't play the puck at all. So much to work on, and I don't think the NHL is a development league.

I'm really concerned with the injuries. Spurgeon arguably keeps the defense going after Suter, and he's nowhere to be seen. Brodin is playing hurt and not close to his level of play before his injury. Now Parise goes out with an undisclosed upper-body injury...

Look, I get the Wild aren't going to win every night, and I'm sure a lot of people will say "oh but we outshot them"...the Wild got smoked. The game was pretty much done 5 minutes into the second period and they didn't start playing until the third.

I'll start putting together the stats, but look at the record vs teams above 500 and below:

Opponents at/below 0.500:
Record: 4-0-0
Goal Diff: 14-1 = +13

Above 0.500:
Record: 3-4-0
Goal Diff: 21-21 = 0

I don't like where this is headed. Wild need to get their top six players playing like top six players, depth guys making an impact again, and their defense controlling the puck again.

yeah i'm not blaming calls on this one. even if we had somehow won, that was our worst-played game of the year so far.

^ I pretty much agree with everything you just said there (Jarick).

That was the worst game this season.

I don't care whether we won or not, Pit's is a good team, but we needed to at least play a good game and collective cluster**** was certainly not that.

And our "top" line has looked like **** for what, four or five games now? This needs to change.

I do like that Koivu has been playing better.

Dumba and Vanek should never, ever be on the ice together.

And Prosser just does not belong on this team anymore.

We need another elite defenseman to be honest. I think that would solidify the back end of our team. To be honest we need another elite forward to be Cup contenders. Kuemper has looked shaky on some goals for sure.

Curious how this plays out when Harding gets back.

I agree with Jarick on Dumba. He's making too much bad decisions. A stint in Iowa would be good for him and the Wild.

Vanek is obviously trying to find ways to contribute. Painful to watch at times. I guess we all do know that he's going to be alright. It's just a matter of time. Guess it's better to use that time now and work it out than still struggle when it matters the most.

Nino is awesome.

zucker & nino have been fantastic, others need to step up and someone needs to catch fire for this team to really be top 5 contender. i'd like to see more from coyle & granlund not to mention the vets as a whole. i agree with jarick on kuemper , we shouldnt count on him to carry the load for 50 games. one game dumba looks awesome the next not so much.

Don't agree about Dumba at all. Let him grow up here. If you think Dumba cost us this game...wow.

I agree with most of what you said, but let's be honest here, teams that are in the top of the league always do worse against over .500 teams than against under .500 teams. The top teams beat up on each other, giving and taking, and then they outright beat the teams they're supposed to. If we continue to go around .500 against the better teams, and near 1.00 against the weak ones, we'll be a top 10, maybe even top 5 team. That, though, is an on pace stat, and those are bollocks (this early).

Don't agree about Dumba at all. Let him grow up here. If you think Dumba cost us this game...wow.

No, it wasn't just Dumba's fault, but a team wide problem. That said, Dumba's poor decision making and turnovers led to two of those goals against last night. He's young, he'll learn, and I can understand if people would prefer that he do that learning in the AHL.

But to those people who want him in the AHL: Just right now, we don't have a defenseman capable of beating him out for ice time, besides maybe Blum. On a fully healthy d-corps, we're looking at the guys beating him out being Prosser, Ballard, or Blum. Blum Bum came to camp out of shape and so is in the doghouse. I don't trust Ballard any more than Dumba. Prosser I do trust more, but he isn't as good at moving the puck, and isn't nearly as creative. So what option do the "Dumba to the AHL" crew prefer?

Dumba, mistakes and all, is a better player than Prosser and Ballard. He moves the puck well, and does some genuinely exciting things offensively. I don't see Folin doing much of anything.

Having said that, the reason we lost isn't those guys. Only one goal, and that on the PK? The PP personnel aren't getting it done. Granlund , Pominville, and Vanek have to show more. Koivu finally had a good game, but he has to do that consistently. These are our big, well paid guns. They need to start playing like it.

You guys giving up on Kuemper after a string of 4-5 so-so games? He had an amazing first 6 games to start the year. Maybe wait a few more games before deciding he can't be counted on for 50+ starts.

Dumba makes mistakes, but he is IMO, the best option we also have.

Ballard sucks. Blum, maybe I guess. And I really don't like Prosser, especially since we don't grind things out the way we used to. He just looks like a stump out there and does not aid our puck movement at all, in fact he hinders it.

Dumba reminds me of young Burns. The mistakes hurt, but hopefully he'll shore them up soon enough.

He does make some pretty damned good plays at times.
