GDT: 11/27/24 - 7:30PM EDT - Washington vs Tampa Bay

Tampa has now scored 3 or more in 16 out of 21 games this year and 4 or more in 11. They are 11-4-1 when scoring 3, and only 7-4 when scoring 4 or more. Vasy is now 7-3 in those games, which is not good enough by far. The team is averaging 3.81 gf/g, so offense is not the problem. It could be even better with an add and as the power play gets better, but being able to score enough goals is usually not the problem. The defense is a little better, but they lack consistency. I don't know what happened to Vasy around 2 years ago, whether it's the injuries or something else, but he just has not been the same since the end of the '21-'22 season.

the offense doesn't even need to score more but they need to have more O-zone time because your defense and goalie suck and constant pressure leads to the opponent eventually tying and winning.

I feel like whatever focus, effort, health was pushed to the limits for two remarkable seasons, blocker side high short of three remarkable seasons, has compromised him by like 5-10%. Instead of that Vasy, he's leveled off to shades of shit and shades of his "old" self where nobody is beating him. He had the presence of invincibility where it was no matter who shot at him, he's got it. Triple saves and a worldie catch behind the back, he's got it. Now? I shit you not i watched that Carlson entry and knew he likes to shoot cross goal and low, boom, goal. Vasy two years ago has that.

I feel like that run shaved off some of his game and the sad part is it may not come back. He's not as consistent and not as sharp. He's young enough and good enough to get it back together, it just feels like, can he? Another mediocre season and I think this is kinda where he settles at give or take a very good/very bad season. I really hope there's more to prime Vasy but I can't complain, he's been our goat.

It's odd, we smother the shit out of a team, get a 2-0 lead then the neutral zone becomes like a walk in the park for the bad guys. It's like our forwards get caught up the ice and our D hangs too far back at the same time.

This is the only stat I really look at.

If we wanna do a deep dive though, our defense gives up the 5th fewest shots in the league, but we are among the league leaders in high danger shots allowed. This could explain his pedestrian sv%.

If you toss out JJ we're a top 5 GA team in this league if you average it out. Still a lot left to be desired, but just a little perspective in a thread talking about how much our D and goalie suck.

If you toss out JJ we're a top 5 GA team in this league if you average it out. Still a lot left to be desired, but just a little perspective in a thread talking about how much our D and goalie suck.

Yet this is a team playing one game over .500. Sure they LOOK better than that. But THAT is what they are

Had the lead three times, were gifted a goal by Lindgren and still found a way to lose. I'm getting tired of blowing leads, many times multiple goal leads. Vasy giving up two goals he should've had didn't help.

The staple of this team was that when we got a lead, it was basically a guaranteed win. Of course, the player quality is no where near what it was then and it just shows the decline of this team. No lead is safe with these guys.

Vasy sucks again! It's always the defense's fault with the Vasy sìmps here. Dude makes a massive salary and can no longer steal a game. Along with a diminished defense and forward core this is a middling team, not a true contender.

I'm not saying fire Cooper but his entire staff needs to go. No one has cracked a fresh idea on how to keep a lead since we allowed Toronto their first series win in what was that like 20 years?

Vasy probably needs to rest but hell if we can afford that.

Vasi has been pretty good most of the season. So has the D but is prone to some mistakes (our third pair is pretty bad so that exacerbates the issue).

Just an annoying game to lose. Need a point at minimum when you jump out to a lead like that.

Just looking back on the game. Super annoyed they let off the gas for the Cooper Shell and yet again it backfires. The shell would work with the right personnel but we don't have a bottom pair designed to do it well, and we are missing Paul and Chaffee who can do it all on the third line. Atkinson is not a good fit.

We’re right where everyone thought we’d be - maybe even a bit better: A wild card team with games in hand. And that w/o a backup goalie and injuries to Point and Paul.

Most of the time a single goal is gonna decide the game and this time it wasn’t our turn. It is what it is. I’m not losing any sleep over this game.

The shell activated after the 2-0 lead. The SHG was the killer. Game never should have gotten to that point. They let their foot off the gas and it bit them in the ass...like normal.
