If you're in need of a laugher this morning. It's a long thread.

Saw later in that thread it looks like he's having transactions frozen on other platforms to prevent him from completely liquidating out of them and crashing other cryptocurrency. Was blocked from pulling out something like 1-2% of the total market value of "Tron" coin.

So shocking to see shit named after movies and memes to not actually be reliable and stable mediums of financial transaction lol

No problem, Jojo. My advice is to buy used from B&H or Adorama. They are extremely knowledgeable, provide great support, and are known as vanguards in the game. They also offer online courses and warrantees. I would advise against going straight in at the top for, say, a Canon 5D Mark IV, 1Dx II or III, Nikon 750, or Sony a1. Let her cut her teeth on a lower model first and if/when she hits her stride, then upgrade. The key is not so much the camera body itself as much as it is the lens. Invest in good lenses first before upgrading the body.

For @GKJ , too -

Here is something I would heavily advise. I have a guy in Willow Grove who has fixed my lenses and cameras. Not only is he a certified camera and lens repair person, his prices are very reasonable and his turnaround is quick. I drive up from Delaware to drop off gear on Monday and back up on Friday to pick up the repaired unit. His name is Matt and his shop is called Authorized Camera Repair. 339 York Road in Willow Grove (215-659-2905). He's also an extremely chill guy. He really is the only guy in the Philadelphia area who offers this kind of quick and reasonably-priced service.

EDIT: For $2,500, you can get a VERY good used camera body. However, the lenses should be your primary focus (no pun intended), so the budget should encompass both the body and the lenses - and don't skimp on the lenses.
Thanks for the info, that’s actually not too far from me. Does he sell anything or just repair?

Just repairs to my knowledge.

The two places I've been to locally for purchases are Allens Camera on New Falls Road in Bristol and Camera Shop in Bryn Mawr on 30.

@ajgoal is right. I've asked Matt (the owner) if they do sales, too. If I recall, he said not normally, but I suppose it never hurts to ask on the off-chance someone gave them something for consignment.

If you have Twitter and are concerned about data security, now would be a good time to deactivate and hope they don't change their policy of deleting most of your info 30 days after deactivation. Californians can also use the CCPA to get better results.

This is related to their excellent CISO stepping down today, not any weird conspiracy.

They're trying to push a ton of stuff into being with zero testing and with their maintenance staff basically gone.

It's gonna go south.

Also, everyone be wary of every link. Pay very close attention to accounts sharing them. There's scans going around thanks to the idiotic new checkmark system.

Fortunately they refuse to unban me so this whole thing has been a shrug from me

I’ll keep that in mind. Just have to figure out how to go about making a career out of this. Once I start I can do it, but figuring out how to start is where I’m at.

If you ask 10 different photographers, you're likely to get 10 different responses on how to make a living at it. I still have a primary job. That being said, unless you are committed to being a certain type of photographer (portraits, events/weddings, creative, real estate, etc.), I would recommend trying them all to find out what really speaks to you. I still shoot everything because I can find something in everything that speaks to me. Join some Facebook photography groups and ask if someone needs an assistant. You may just end up holding lights, but it will be valuable experience and, hopefully, the photographer will give you some real-time tutoring. I know I'm not the only photographer here, but if you want to share some of your work, I'd be happy to offer some advice or opinions. One thing is to always shoot in RAW format. You have a greater opportunity to work with a photo when it is shot in RAW. That being said, try to do as much of the work in-camera (exposure, framing, etc.) as you can. Don't be discouraged by mistakes. There will be plenty, but once you've got it, you've got it.

I’m a winner already as I dumped Twitter 10 years ago

The event/weddings would be something I'd be interested in. I've always been intrigued when I've seen them at weddings.

One thing I learned when I started my creative journey - first with writing and then photography - is that rules are not absolute. They are merely guidelines. Those who adhere to strict rules when it comes to creativity do so because a) that's how they were taught, and/or b) that's their style and they have not changed or evolved once they settled into a style. Creativity should free the artist, not restrict him/her.
Absolutely!
My path began while walking in the Met and Moma. The impressionist caught my eye and began studying them. What they read, music etc...needless to say artistic ability is down to the individual through their own vision, comprehension and desire
