The fact that you are ok with 2 of our dmen played bottom 2 for the Coyotes last year and then another dman that has played 40 games total for a Stanley cup contender that is a concernl. Team defence is ok but defenceman needs an upgrade before goaltending FOR SURE. Again so many posts of yours that will not stand the test of time very well. Not sure if you have been watching other games. Goals are up BIG time. The 10th best goalie in the league has barely over a 910 save %.

I don't think you pay attention to any stats, the Oilers 5 on 5 D is the main pillar propping the team up.

For reference, the last 3 years at this exact same point

22-23 Oilers (Woodcroft): Oilers allowed 61 goals against through the first 17 games
23-24 Oilers (Woodcroft, with Knob replacing him): Oilers allowed 66 goals against in the first 17gp.
24-25 Oilers (Knob in): Oilers have allowed 53 GA in 17 gp.

Anyone saying this team hasn't gotten better defensively is smoking crack cocaine.

If the goalies could even be a little below average on the PK, that 53GA number would be likely in the mid-40s, which would be top 10 in the league.

The D is not the problem here. Once the PK normalizes (maybe the goalies can help by making a damn save), the team will be again be in the top 10 defenses in the league as they were last season under Knoublaugh/Coffey.

Villanizing the d-corp when they're the main reason the team has a winning record this year (because they sure as f*** aren't doing it with offence or goaltending) is stupid.

In 3 on 3, I prefer Nurse over bouchard out there with mcdavid and draisaitl. Nurse is the better skater. You don't need a bomb from the point in 3v3. You need speed and guys moving up and down the ice fast.

Yup it’s a real issue with this team for some weird reason, just so many shots that are just Center mass on the goalie. It’s statistically a big enough data set to say it’s not just a fluke, and the powerplay almost cost them tonight, one goal was needed and they couldn’t deliver.

One of the things is we're taking arguably the 2nd best producer on the planet off the charts in EV with the wingers he's had this season. Still a combined 2 goals all year for his wingers because they just don't cash shit. Constant setups. Pretty done with Pods in topsix. Sure the work rate is there but stone hands and just botching everything. Line has hardly looked more dangerous than with Perry on it tonight.

We're putting coolers with Drai and Henrique has nothing at all going and J Skinner has other than tonight been invisible for weeks. Hyman this is kind of predictable he was going to be human again this season. Nothing but work from him but playing with an injury and just not cashing.

So many players on this team not going. Nice for Nuge to be taking the year off.... The offense this season is basically McDrai and the D. They're all over it. Nobody else even registering.

Yes, the secondary scoring has been quite alarming so far this season. I’m hoping that the worm will turn shortly though as surely we can’t have multiple forwards putting up career lows on a playoff team. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before in my years of watching hockey.

We're likely too much into the season to see a lot of these guys put up big season totals, but they likely will start producing like themselves in the last 3/4ths of the season. All the advanced stats suggest they will. Typically when the top guys start dominating like this it has a trickle down effect and the guys who haven't been scoring are still getting plenty of scoring chances and are tilting the ice in their minutes.

Largely yes with Kulak, but he's also taking some shifts with other pairings. They seem to be playing Kulak-Nurse together 60-80% of the night and then getting Kulak shifts with Emberson and Nurse shifts with Stetcher/Dermott.

Not really. They had just as much scoring from dmen in the first 6 games as they did from depth forwards.

He's a horrible interview, has been from day 1, but his system (or Coffey?) gets results.

And that's considering that 53 number is likely wildly inflated by an unsustainably bad PK, it should be a few goals less than that. Once our PK settles the f*** down and either one of the two goalies decides to make a save on it, our GA will be quite good.
