I agree with you guys about Etem, but I'm intrigued because as soon as he was paired with Getz/Perry he had some pretty good shifts. Hopefully he can continue to make strides, because right now he's not making much of an impact.

I just started watching the game but so did DSP when put on the top line. The twins do that.

Jesus, Maroon is ridiculous behind the net. He is definitely breaking out this season. Hope he isn't out for long. I want to see him have a great season.

The ACL stabilizes the lateral/side-to-side movement of the knee. Walking isn't a problem because it's a forward motion. I ran a marathon on a partially torn ACL, and then when it was fully torn, I was still able to walk around for a week with a brace until I got home and then for another six weeks until I had ACL replacement surgery.

this....its why you can "walk" on it but if you try to do any "cuts" you are done...the meniscus is whats "weight bearing" and is usually a lot easier to come back from then a ACL/MCL...a dr. can tell in about 2mins. whats going on but obviously need a MRI to confirm and classify it (grade).

i really dont put to much stock in this one, the ducks did what they should have...i dont know if i have seen a NHL team worse at gap control then BUF was. the time and space the ducks had today should NEVER happen in a NHL game...however, i though silf and DSP finally showed up and made a statement. that 3rd line looks set (for the moment) and i hope BB doesnt even think of touching it..wild bill looked great and i hope that he can really build on this one as i think he shows a lot of of promise and potential to slide into that 3C and become deadly. cogs seems to round that line out great too. really need etem to get it going and he looked like he finally started to figure it out.....and as everyone else has said, man i hope patty is ok as it is a big big loss.

The ACL doesn't control side to side motion - the collateral ligaments (MCL and LCL) do that. The ACL and PCL prevent the joint from rotating and also prevent the tibia from moving too far forward (ACL) or backwards (PCL).

Glad for the win.. worried about Patty. Congrats to Wild Bill.

WTF is up with Fox sports? Pretty soon there won't be any screen left to watch the game. (between the obnoxious huge florescent score box, scrolling news bar and Prime Ticket emblem). It's getting rediculous.

you sir are 100% correct.

Idk why we need to see the SOG the whole time. And I like the score with the logos better like they had before.

Not sure about Wagner (Norfolk's center depth already seems thin with both RR and WK up with the Ducks), but I'm with you on Etem, as much as I want to see him realize his potential it's becoming apparent that he has hit the wall. His tunnel vision is killing me. How many times has he gained the OZ with speed and possession only to chug along the wall with his head down and fire a harmless wrister on net while his linemates are wide open driving the net? His vision and offensive hockey sense is stuck in a rut. If the other areas if his game were standing out (like hitting, forechecking, puck-hounding, etc.) I could see him making a case for himself. But that's not the case, DSP is out-shining him right now and that's not saying a ton.

For me it's his hands that has been the most alarming thing. His tunnel vision is well documented, but I don't see much ability as far as goal scoring goes. He fumbles pucks very often, and his shot doesn't seem dangerous. I really hope Bruce doesn't put Etem on Kesler's line. hell give Rakell a chance at RW with Kesler. Etem has been a drag on any line

im starting to wonder whether its their own mindset thats holding them back.

when they are on a line with the twins they look to make plays and try and create offense. when they are on the 4th line all they do is dump chase maybe hit and repeat. or streak down wing and shoot awful shot.

i'm specifically looking at them only and not what their linemates are doing. i'm a little confused now as to how they actually are

Etem hasn't been great and may be our worst forward right now but he hasn't been terrible either. Im also worried about his offensive upside and definitely looks less confident/determine than a few years ago.

Really liked what I saw from Meyers, hope we are targeting him.

1st line LW is cursed. Just look back in the past few years :help:

And to my Fowler comments in the already closed GDT: i meant that he was also average in Detroit game. But by average i mean by his standards (and maybe my expectations). I mean, we are talking about a guy who averaget 24 mins a night last year (23:51) - he was playing the biggest minutes on the 2nd best team in a regular season last year.

So far he has averaged 3 minutes less. Ok, he had an injury but that makes me wonder how serious that injury was and if he really shouldn`t sit and heal now. Of course the emergence of Beauch and Lindholm impacts his ice time too, but he just wasn`t himself, i get the feeling (i have seen 2 of 3 games so far).

Sabres looked like they had offgame. Specially at Karlssons second goal, that was just horrible D work at the front of the net. Ducks PP looks good in so far in season. Kesler has been good in both games I have seen.

Vatanen had horrible moments in earlier game but this one was good, though I missed lots of minutes here and there of the game.

Sabres were a mess most of the game so not as entertaining game as previous ones but I'll take it.

DSP was good, could have had a goal or two but just didn't go in. I would try him on the top line though it seems like it's Beleskey's spot right now. Karlsson was also nice, maybe try Rakell as his winger now that Maroon is injured. Hopefully Maroon's injury isn't bad, he just got faster this offseason and now he injures his leg, not good.

Etem needs to get sent down, but who is going to replace him? Still, he hasn't been very good, I didn't notice him until he started shooting from bad places.

Etem doesn't need to go to the minors. Quite the opposite, we need him more than ever with all of these injuries. Does his game leave a lot to be desired? Of course. Will going to the minors really do any good? I don't think so. If he ends up there it's because he didn't earn his spot here but he's an NHL player. He just might not be the kind of player we wanted him to be. I'm a lot more encouraged due to his performance yesterday particularly when he took a shift or two with Kesler.

I really don't think he is an NHL player right now. What does he do? He skates hard. That's it. Even if we're asking him to be a grinder/energy player, he still doesn't live up to that yet. He has no real defensive game to speak of, he's making poor decisions with the puck in the offensive zone and effectively killing the play, and he isn't even showing himself to be particularly effective on the forecheck.

Skating hard isn't enough, and even a 3rd/4th line grinder should be expected to do more than he's doing.

Watched the game late last night. No one really looked bad at all really. That's because we were playing a team that Norfolk may beat. Anyway, after reading the game day thread during the game yesterday I paid special attention to a few players in particular.

Fowler: Fowler was very good. He stopped pinching after we got up 2-0 and I don't see anything wrong with that. He had two bad shifts and both were with less then 5 minutes to go when we were up 5-0.

Silfverberg: Was by far the best game I've seen him play in a while. I still have my doubts if he'll ever be a top 6 player, but he was solid tonight. Hopefully he's on the rise and his improvement isn't just due to playing Buffalo.

Etem: Like I said earlier, no one was horrible but if someone asked me who the worst player on the ice was (for us), it would be Etem. He had one really good shift, and another okay one. Other then that it was the same old Etem. No vision at all. He needs to go to AHL. I actually hope they send him down and call up someone from Norfolk to replace him.

Other notes:
Kesler continues to just be amazing. Still hate that line combination though.
DSP was better, but still not that great.
I thought Vatanen/Stoner were great together (aside from their PK ability)
Andersen should be starter. He's simply better right now.
Lindholm/Beauchemin are clearly our best pairing right now.

I still don't like BB's decision about the PK. I hate that he's just using regular D pairs on the PK. I preferred when he had 4 go to defenseman on the PK. Vatanen should not be on the PK, ever.

Putting Vatanen on the PK seems to demonstrate kind of a fundamental misunderstanding of just what kind of player Vatanen is.

I think they mentioned in the duck's telecast they are trying him there because he is so quick at retrieving the puck that he may be able to get the puck out of the zone singlehandedly.

I don't like it either though.

Just so everyone is aware, the P(ost)GT will stay open until the next game's start time.

I thought Vatanen was only caught out on the PK because it was at the end of a 4 on 4. In the Buffalo game that is, no idea what he was doing out there against Pittsburgh.
