Perseverance
How do you practice football alone? Do you get geared up and run into walls? Or push the tackle sled around by yourself all day? Oh, the post has the text cut off, it buried the lead. KICKER... makes way more sense now.

Getting heavy back into Skinny Puppy and going down the hardware synth rabbit hole once again. Grabbing myself an Ensoniq ESQ-1 tomorrow and have a Behringer Pro One clone coming in the mail.

Lord help me.

You all ever wonder why the puck is black? I get that it stands out against the ice, but it doesn't stand out against anything else really. I feel like maybe a nice day-glow orange or day-glow green around the rim of the puck keeping it black on both faces would help make it more vis. Especially with the amount of black on the unis of pretty much every team in the league. Or even just the edges of the puck in a high vis color would help. I feel like the technology is there. Maybe the juice just isn't worth the squeeze regarding changing things.

So Halloween is exactly the same in Norway as it is in the United States, except in Norwegian.

I just talked to a friend who moved to norway this year and she said it's nothing compared to US. That's a win for the ole stars and stripes

It took me like 2 weeks to notice this and I have no idea how much longer it'll run, but Shout Factory is running a continuous, repeating marathon of Godzilla movies this month, all (as far as I can tell) in Japanese with subtitles except for the inclusion of the US cut of the first movie featuring Raymond Burr.

If I'm not mistaken it looks like the selection of movies runs through most of the Showa era movies from the 1954 original to the mid 70s. From the list on the video's page all that they're missing is Godzilla vs King Kong (licensing issues, maybe?) and for some reason Ebirah, Horror of the Deep which is weird because Shout has like 5 different Godzilla marathon streams going on right now and I know I saw that movie playing on one of them. Also for some reason it has War of the Gargantuas which was done by the Godzilla crew (including director Ishiro Honda, musical composer Akira Ifukube and effects supervisor Eiji Tsuburaya, and co-starring Toho "queen of the monster movies" Kumi Mizuno, who was in I think 4 different Godzilla movies)

OtherShout streams have slightly different mixes of movies, including Ebirah, some Rodan movies, and I think maybe another offbeat title like Varan The Unbelievable, but no later Godzilla ones.

I watched last night's game successfully on that. No subscription, no sign-in. Having previously tried cutting the cord with major time wasters like Kodi, this thing blew me away. I bought the box, I hooked up the box, I clicked on their link to install the software, I was watching content within a half hour of opening the box. It actually took me longer to mash the buttons simultaneously to pair the remote than it did to set the rest of it up.

I don't think this breaks any board rules as it's a legit product you can purchase from Amazon (or directly from the company).

I was hesitant to drop 400$ on what would amount to a glorified fire stick if the content wasn't included... "If it's too good to be true, then it's probably not true." That's not the case here. All the live TV channels. I could have watched the Detroit broadcast on the NHL-games-only channels, but I opted to watch on our local sports network, of which there appeared to be many. I even had the alt feed showing the Sacramento Kings available from the regional sports affiliate. All the other city's CSN's, FSN's and BallySportsNetworks were all there too.

The only thing I didn't see was Amazon Prime Video and AppleTV. But those shows might have been available. There's a couple different "Heat" options for watching non-live content. One of them breaks it down by source, although you can search over all of them, and the other just sort of has things grouped by genre. The Prime Video/AppleTV content might still be in there just not labeled specifically as such. And no CrunchyRoll...

Also, it appears that the option for one week playback is on all the sport-specific type channels, meaning the NHL-live (or whatever they're calling it now) channels, I can roll the guide back and watch previous games, looks like the other sports-specific-subscription type channels have that capability as well.

For my Canadian friends, there's a whole slew of Canadian channels for live TV also.

I'm f***ing flabbergasted at how good this thing is! Considering how much I pay for cable and some subscription services this thing will pay for itself in a couple months. I was even able to pull up "Mike Tyson Mysteries" without all of Plutos incessant advertisements... from what I can tell the non-live content is commercial free.
