That line getting chances is good.
Disagree, Cronin was always a stop gap coach, his job was never to turn us into a winner.
Now whatever his job was it seems he failed
I think PV expected to be able to get some help in free agency… and when he couldn’t get anyone signed that extended his goals for this year to next year
I don’t think I said that at all and I don’t think it’s a sign of anything reallyYou're saying PV misjudged his ability to secure pro talent? That's not a great sign of a good GM.
IMO, this is still year 3 of the reset rebuild and I was expecting another developmental season because we introduced several rookies last year and have added two more rookies this year. Yet 10 games into the season, I think teams are gonna easily figure us out and we're not seeing more positive improvements among the youth class. But 10 games is too small a sample... if you omit last season from the sample.

There are a lot of reasons for free agents to not want to sign in socal, a rebuilding team that hasn’t taken steps forward yet are just added parts of why it would be hard to get talent to come here

Didn’t watch the game, was out trick or treating with the little one. Reading the thread it seems like I’ve seen this show before anyway. Gross.
“close game” they can say to themselves at the end of the season, totally forgetting what these games actually looked like.Another 1 goal loss to add to our collection
Well when we end up with 24 of them they can brag about how they whichever marginal forward that we overpay for in free agency will push us over the edge And turn those 1 goal losses into 1 goal wins“close game” they can say to themselves at the end of the season, totally forgetting what these games actually looked like.
Their record is because of one player, the one guy cronin has nothing to do with.Look at the record of the team. Regardless of how you feel about the overall performance, is that seriously something you think gets a second year coach of a rebuilding team fired less than a month into the season?
They get stuck in the zone because their defensive system is predicated on the other team giving up possession of the puck on their own. They need to figure out a way not to give up 10 shots in the span of 2 minutes getting stuck in the zone. Either Cronin's breakout system is utterly useless or the Ducks don't have the personnel to do it.
Seeing the Ducks get forechecked is painful. I normally watch the games later and I'm tempted to just fast forward through those shifts. Dostal is amazing, but it's a bit like watching someone get flogged.
Nice work dissecting the trash system lolTheir record is because of one player, the one guy cronin has nothing to do with.

They collapse so deep that any puck along the boards is basically unattainable, and once a player does get possession of the puck there is nobody to pass to because they are all within 10 feet of each other and the net.
The whole system is about mitigating worst case scenarios. It's like if a hockey system was one big defense mechanism against PTSD.
He could be a good coach with the right roster. A big, experienced roster that could take being ridden. Cronin probably would have been good for getzlaf, even.cronin was hailed as a "developmental coach" but it seems like every young guy's development has stalled under his watch with the exception of leo, dostal, and maybe mintyukov
he sucks
More or less passes the eye test but a ton of weight given to Killorn for his goal but I'll admit he was less shit than usual tonight.
Only if you think a certain number of points means more than actually seeing players show real improvement regardless of where we finish in the standings this year.at least they got a point?
Would be a lot worse if Dostal wasn't currently the best goalie in the NHL.Lackluster play but 4-4-2 is not bad. Some positives:
- Minty and Dumoulin are a strong pair
- Zegras needs to be a center. Gauthier-Zegras-Killorn seems like an actual line with chemistry
- Dostal is outstanding
- Terry and Fabbri continue to play well
- Special teams are improving
McTavish and Vatrano really need to get going. If the Ducks win against Chicago, they are at least in a reasonable spot 11 games in.
