I will give him 1 piece of credit

Zegras is miles better defensively and in all 3 zones..... unfortunately his offense hasnt caught up yet

You just know this dumb ass org is going to trade Zegras before getting rid of cronin.
they'll trade Zegras for a 3rd line checking forward who gets 30 points a season and call that a win.

hahaha this team is bad.....pit is BRUTAL and the ducks only scored 1 goal.....its so funny to me how far away this team is and some think its only a draft pick or trade away....NO, this is what happens when you "bring up" kids is a losing environment.....LOSING is ok, and you expect them to grow into a winning team?....they have most overrated "talent"....I have never seen a team (in any sport) be talented and suck, it doesnt happen.....going to nice to see them destroy another great young goalie, and watch as PV gets asked no hard questions, or have to answer for missing the mark as bad as he has.....why do some ducks fans give these guys such a free pass? cronin should be gone before this team touches the ice in anaheim.....IT HAS TO STOP and there has to be accountability.

I didn't despise Eakins as much as Cronin. I knew Eakins was bad. And knowing that and hiring someone who is this f***ing dogshit at his job to replace him is absolutely infuriating. I tried to give him a little grace in spite of infuriating the wholr 20 games not coaching just observing and Lybushkin's comments made me but I can't give any more grace here. He is a terrible coach and every game he gets to mold these young players is a failure by this organization.

Pretty much this. Eakins got here when we were in the infancy of a rebuild (even if Bob didn't consider it that at the time) and I figured he got a job virtually no one wanted because of his familiarity with the guys in San Diego who he'd get to transition. But seeing this product on the ice when Cronin's supposed to be the buffer coach who ushers us OUT of the rebuild before the guy who takes this team to contention gets here? Outrageous.

At what point do we look at PV and say his ass needs to go to?
Hes got a long leash prob
We got a ton of young talent, a good goalie.

PV has done a solid job with that, But the coach choice wasnt great, and he needs to pull the plug ASAP

the issue is we still have too much fat in the line up

Vatrano, Killorn, Fowler can all go.

Obviously not a great play on the winning goal but it is encouraging to see Cutter getting some chances. Zegras seems to be playing a little better.

Vatrano has been brutal. He isn’t scoring goals and he takes stupid penalties. What is he contributing right now?

It really sucks to watch my team defend all game long. Need to make some changes.

Eakins was better than this. I don't know how anyone can argue that what we are watching right now is better than when eakins was here, and cronin has MORE talent.

We are bad and boring. It's a feat to endure this.
I don’t understand why people insist on comparing the two at all. Why does it matter? Eakins sucked too

Killorn will be fine. Fowler will be traded sooner than later, hope vatrano can even find a 15 goal pace so we can trade him. And we have a ton of cap room as well as this being cronins final season

Idk that killorn will be fine, but i think were kinda stuck with him lol

Fowler/Vatrano/Gibson need to be gone tho.

Someone mentioned Bjorkstrand (i think @AngelDuck ) and i feel like that would be an ideal target

It isn't uncommon to compare a current coach to the one who was fired for him.

Either verbeek wanted to transform every player we have into something he's not or he grossly miscalculated cronin's abilities to apply a system that works with this roster.

Both coaches were bad…. We need a vet coach bad

I said it before the season. Mctavish needed to become a dominant player in order for the ducks to compete. He has not
He shows it at times…. But consistency is lacking bad

I remember verbeek saying that he likes to wait( either until Christmas time or thanksgiving) before he really assess things. Cronin has a lot of home games to work with in November. For his sake, he better get things organized. I have a feeling that verbeek doesn’t want to waste a vez una type goalie + an actual legit looking top d pair in dumo and minty. He knows he struck out in free agency, and that fans are antsy. I think part of his “ I will be more hand on this season “ approach also has to do with making trades and or firing Cronin if needed.

Firing cronin starts the clock on verbeek and he must know that. GMs don't get to have that many coaches.

We do have a culture issue, but it's not like there is an easy way for us to fix it. The free agents who care about winning aren't the ones who are going to choose to sign here.

We get the supporting role veterans who are only here to collect a paycheck.

Eventually we need some of our home grown talent to step up and lead this team out of the basement.

I understand that but it’s not really productive. Fact is Cronin isn’t getting the job done, and I’m starting to question other facets of this organization too. For example, why did half our guys looked gassed tonight? For a team as young as the Ducks, shouldn’t we have more jump? What’s with the strength and conditioning program? Something is wrong there. There’s no excuse. This wasn’t a back to back.

It might also be systems-related. It just requires way too much skating especially in the d-zone. And the guys just don’t have as much energy as they would if our system was more efficient.

You all are crazy if you think verbeek feels he needs to ride or die with Cronin.
Why? He would be asking the owners to take a multi-million dollar bath because the guy he handpicked is completely wrong for the job. You don't think that plays a role in the decision?

Disagree, Cronin was always a stop gap coach, his job was never to turn us into a winner.

Now whatever his job was it seems he failed

I think PV expected to be able to get some help in free agency… and when he couldn’t get anyone signed that extended his goals for this year to next year

We aren't arguing the same thing. If cronin cannot even perform stopgap duties, that is a failure of verbeek. If he cannot get that pick right, why should he be trusted with more cracks at it?

I'm sure he will because our owners are conservative and hands off, but typically gms have to play the "fire the coach" card very carefully because ultimately that failure lies with them.

He’s a first time Gm who’s drafting well. No coach worth their salt was coming in during the start of the rebuild. It’s an easy sell to say, hey, this guy Cronin can teach these kids how to be pros. Now the sell is, we need a vet coach to push the development over the top. This group won’t quit. We’ve been sluggish, but we won’t quit. It means we will have to deal with Cronin the rest of the season. But that’s it, ending this season you will have a few vet coaches who are fired from other cities to chose from, at the end of a rebuild where also our Gm won’t be shy to sign guys in free agency. We will land a solid coach going into next season.
