Carrying a child has made it difficult for Kopitar to react quickly with the puck. His hands, feet and reaction time all seem to be a step behind.

In previous years, Kopitar would demonstrate great strength in fending off defenders and would be a beast at hanging onto the puck.

This season, not so much. He's easily getting knocked off the puck, and he used to be great at dodging hits. This season, not so much.

The 2013, weakened version of Kopitar has crept up this season.
 
I know the Kings have confidence in each other to pull out holes that they dig for themselves. They like to say to just look around the room and see who is beside them. For the first time I can say what they see is really not assuring as compared to years past. Look and see Brown ruffling through his stall looking for his missing production. Kopitar now seriously looks more UNDEAD than ever post kid. Stoll getting his head examined. Doughty passed out sleeping standing up cuz he's so frickin tired after games! Slava surrounded by his lawyers. Mitchell vacationing in Florida. Richards in the 4th dimension. Williams with one foot out the door. Carter silently wishing he was in the 4th dimension with Richards. That locker room feel.
 
Hopefully Stoll has a gut check and realizes his health is the most important thing of all. I really feel bad for the guy. He just needs to retire and relax on the beach while enjoying life.

As usual, typical garbage main board thread. People actually wanting five games. That board is allergic to intelligence. Toffoli should get a fine and that's it.

For some reason, I'm attracted to stupid people and always find myself reading and posting there. I know I'm not supposed to be there, but it just happens and I try to make those people smarter. It's really infuriating.
 
I don't think it's so much a lack of effort but more of a case of the Kings beating themselves with mental lapses and brain farts.

And more often than not, those lapses are caused as a result of exhaustion. Not making excuses for the team, but it seems rather visible that this team looks gassed when they get to the third period.

The second Toffoli's stick touches Burrows his head whips back. I don't buy it AT ALL.
 
I still don't buy into the tired excuse. The league does get better and younger every year.

The Kings have kept the core the same, it's older. Heck the roster is not even the same as last year (already pointed out).

This roster as is, has trouble being consistent, that has been proven all season.

The don't look tired, they look like an fringe playoff, incomplete roster.
 
The biggest problem with the main board is everything is looked at too black and white to have a real discussion on anything. If you disagree with an opinion it immediately evolves into fan bashing and attacks on intelligence or class. And grey area opinions are always viewed negatively.
 
Jets now up 1-0 because of course.

I'm just starting to believe it's just not in the cards. Teams that have been average all season are playing .800 hockey. Meanwhile, while we can't bury an empty net, teams are getting two on us from across the rink, roofing miracle rainbow passes, and getting favorable bounces off the backboards.

We used all our mojo in the playoffs. Need an offseason to rejuvenate.

Don't get me wrong, we deserved to lose this game, but EVERYTHING is lining up against us repeatedly.

8 of 10 is a pipe dream but would set us up nicely for the last handful. Less than that and we'll have to basically win out.

I don't feel good about it after today's game not because we lost but because I think we're just toast. It's not effort or heart, it's just the wall. Sucks.

We will add youth and depth and have an even stronger team than this year, not worried about that the way I used to be. I'd love to see these guys pull off something special, but not keeping my hopes up. Just hang on and enjoy the ride.

Pretty much sums it up. Few people can accept that it was a penalty and that Burrows milked it after. Mostly it's just "dumbest thing I've read on the internet OMG DURTEEE KINGGGZZZZ".

I think it’s fair to say that we have a hard schedule, but that’s what the NHL is all about. Especially down the stretch, it’s one of those things if we deserve to be in the playoffs we’ll find ways to win games. Like I said, our confidence and our belief in ourselves hasn’t wavered. Again, a couple months ago, everyone was saying we’d have a chance and we’re still sitting here with a chance. So now it’s getting to that time, it’s been that time, where we have to find ways to rattle off some wins here.

08-09, 2nd
09-10, 1st
10-11, 1st
11-12, 2nd

That's an average of about 3rd on the team each season.

14-15, currently 9th

Every year, we've all wanted Kopitar to shoot more. This is actually the year where he's not shooting.

If Kopitar doesn't get on a roll here to close out the season, the Kings are toast.

No scoring depth, or Center depth to speak of. It's on Kopitar to strap this team on his back offensively.

Pretty much need Kopitar to be a PPG here on out. Not 7 points in three games then 4 points of the next 8 games.

A PPG, like 13 points in the next 11 games run, with most of those being Goals.

Kopitar needs 16 points in the last 11 games just to reach his career average of 70 points.

The Kings have not and are not losing games just because of Kopi. They win or lose as a team and if they can't do that, then make some big changes this off season and create a team who work together for wins. This bunch just hasn't gotten it together this year. Maybe lack that drive for the cup, as they've done it twice now. Understandable. Whether it's fatigue or lack of enthusiasm they just don't have it anymore.

Not blaming Kopitar for anything.

But if the Kings want to make the post season, he has to be the best player on the ice from here on out.

And score some goals. No other way to say it or state that. Your best player, has to be your best player.

The Kings lack scoring depth this year, also Center depth this year. It's Kopitar's time to step up, if the Kings want to make the playoffs that is.
 
In the Kings last five losses, Kopitar is a -10 (team high). That has to change, for the Kings to even have a chance.

Haven't updated in a while: Herby's Green Jacket:

Brown -15 (Brown is having a terrible season)
Muzzin -8
Kopitar -7 (back to in the running Kopi).

Bigger question--whether we make the playoffs or not, can we make playoff/non-playoff avatars of "typical kings?"
 
Sigh.

Dustin Brown is having a horrible Season. In spite of him trying really hard.

10G 15A 25P -15....Terrible.
