Ferraro: « We spent a lot of times talking about the Panthers depth, now we’ve seen some of New Jersey’s too… gulp gulp gulp gulp gulp »

f*** man, I haven’t heard you talk shit about our team during the broadcast, you even called our players with Devils’ names multiple times. lol
Ferraro is a grade A loser. Guy probably hated every second last season.

For the Devils, it's their biggest game of the year, but for the Panthers, it's Tuesday
As a Devil's fan I can't argue with this. This is what is called a measuring stick game. Post game I thought Panthers were the better team. Some posts hit by Florida and some clutch NJ goals were the difference. You guys have one hell of a team.

After reading this entire thread, my goodness there is some serious disrespect for my NJ Devils. I'm shocked really. They have a lot of talent and are playing more aggressive, heavy, more forechecking, and less of a rush team. See you Thursday.

This loss has nothing to do Bennett.

They just didn’t really want it tonight. Sometimes, you can tell a team is « ready to lose ».
While I agree they didn’t show up last night, imo it still highlighted how important Bennett is. I’m not sure why Mo didn’t move Lundell up at some point as (by my eyes) the top line was the only one with any real and constant push, but Boqvist didn’t do much for the 2nd line. Tkachuk was quiet, Verhaeghe looked out of sorts, and frankly they didn’t respond to the Devils physicality. Normally, if a team goes into prevent D like they did last night our boys would run em over, this seemed like the 22-23 Panthers who were trying figure out the new system. P

I really don’t see them as a serious threat, they could become that, but I think they’re still to small up front. They looked a lot better last night than last year, and more physical, but I felt the Panthers had mid-season style game where they just didn’t have it other than a few stretches.

I think the Devils are headed in the right direction and added some great pieces, and I hope they knock out the Rags again, but I think they’re still a few steps back. But, they’re close, which is frustrating cause I don’t like smug Hughes.

I don't think that's direspect. NJ have been good so far and will probably be a top tier team at the end of the regular season. It's just that they won't be anything special in the playoffs, not yet.

As for the measuring stick thing, I get it. I know it would make you fell good if NJ could win back to back games against the Panthers. But in fact, it wouldn't mean much.

I disagree. I remember when a NY GIants team took the undefeated Patriots to the brink , the best team probably ever, in the last game of the regular season, and that gave them the confidence to move forward. Make no mistake, the Panthers are the league's best team right now. They are the bar to move toward. If they can beat them back to back, it will go a long way to their confidence. The Panthers play hard nosed, smart, tough hockey. The games have meaning.

I don't really care for Keefe as a coach but I think the Devils are a strong team with a ton of depth and skill up front. Adding Markstrom in the off-season was one of those obvious moves that actually happened.

Not surprised they came out with a win. They're one of the better teams this year and the Cats aren't going to win every game. That said, they are still the better team and I think they come back strong on Thursday to get back in the win column.

In this case, they should not take yesterday's game as indicator. We were clearly the better team, only thing NJ was better at is timely scoring, with a quite disciplined defensive game. If I needed to motivate my team to beat the Panthers and induce confidence for the long run, this would hardly be a game I'd show them beforehand.

They’re going to burn out in playoffs. That team is full of soft skilled forwards.

I agree somewhat. Panthers were better. Looked better. They were more physical and really showed the Devils what they must play like to achieve their success. Winning is almost always a confidence builder. Losing is a better teacher. The Devils did not meet the bar in the eye test. They still have a ways to go. It's a long season. Every good team they play with, win or lose, will go toward building success moving forward. I respect this Panthers team and how they are built and coached. I loved how they played vs Boston two years ago, I loved how they grinded their opponents down in the playoffs. I'm looking forward to Thursday. Win or lose, there will be lessons learned.

Good luck after Thursday. With respect.

I mean, I was getting a bit nervous with all the games we were winning - I didn't want us to burn out or be in any danger of getting the President's trophy curse, so thanks I guess? From the highlights, it seems like we played a good game but just didn't manage to score when we needed to. Seemed like a fun game, though.

But we really have to beat them tomorrow though. Can't let them get away with two in our barn...

Thought we were the better side, hit post/crossbar twice. They did what we normally do, get the goals at the crucial stages, we were turning the screw, dominating and they'd score. Fair play to NJ, they played a good away game. We missed Bennett, need get his contract sorted, very noticeable when he's not on the ice

Thanks - that was my sense but good to know. Grrr - wish I could watch Thursday's game live now. I've heard the game had a definite playoff feel, which is always a lot of fun.

Crossing fingers for Bennett. And who's going to adopt those animals without him?

Yeah, but on the flip side, winning games when they don't go your ways and you don't dominate is what good teams do. The Devils are good, they might even be good in the playoffs or look like us during our President's Trophy year. Time will tell. All that we can say for sure right now, is that all their goals were not legitimates and their low taxes gives them an unfair advantage.

Speaking of president kuli, does anyone know when the panthers are visiting the White House? I tried to look up the most recent winners and it seems like they go in November but I haven’t heard anything about it. I’m assuming they’re going?
