GDT: 1/28/25 - 7:00PM EDT - Chicago vs Tampa Bay

I don't make a habit of it but I f***ing told you so. We needed to reload after the repeat. We'd have been done by now and probably still could have landed Jake

We have no choice but to leg this out and be patient
You don't reload after a repeat and with the group they had lol. Aside from losing Colton in favor of Jeannot and Sheary, roster management has been fine. It's one rough stretch of 15 games (and still can finish the month close to .500), big deal. They were stymied by this goaltender and JJ is trash= unfortunate, but not unexpected result.

Just baffling. Kept Chicago to 20 shots on goal, while we had 35 of our own and a lot of them were decent chances. Not just perimeter stuff. There was a time earlier in the season where we'd go in a shell and there was zero offense. We spent so much of that 3rd in the offensive zone, and it was the Point, Cirelli, and Paul lines. I just don't know. Point, Kuch, Hagel, and Guentzel all have 20+ goals and over a ppg, and we have 1 measly goal in 2 games against Chicago and Detroit who are not good teams at keeping the puck out. A complete head scratcher at what's going on. I wish the 4 nations break was now.

If you can't beat Chicago at home with your backup, the team has serious issues.

Not sure how else to look at it.

That repeat is getting further and further in the rear view mirror.

No doubt some will be saying but the repeat was only 5 years ago...6 years ago...7 years ago...

The flu is probably going through the team right now. Would explain why Vassy didn't play tonight and why they look so "tired" "slow".

This a symptom of an issue that's persisted for 3 years now. You don't lose Johnson, Palat, Killorn, Maroon, Gourde, Goodrow, Coleman and Stamkos and say "Yep. We're good. We got McDonagh and Moser" and fill the lineup with fodder because we have no cap space for anything else. We needed to get ahead of it and sell high for cheap, young talent

Either way I don't imagine this lasting much longer. Everyone feel free to bitch but I'm optimistic

Probably the worst game of the season. And as usual, nobody even bothers trying to inject life into the game. I don't put much stock into a single loss itself, but it was another contest where it's clear as day that this team is too soft to do anything meaningful. They interviewed one of Chicago's assistant coaches between periods and he said that while he wasn't pleased with Foligno taking the extra penalties, his actions woke up the team and got them into the game. TB doesn't have the personnel to win games in numerous ways like they did in years past, nor drag guys into the fray. Probably the most listless effort I have seen in awhile, so maybe there are some injuries or illnesses behind the scenes. But that was a rough one to watch.

I think EE guessed earlier that it was the flu for Vasy, and honestly that wouldn't surprise me just from all the air travel they've had, but I don't think the team was slow tonight. Somehow we just had no luck on offense. Should've had more than 1 tonight. Should've had more goals in the more recent games all together. I just don't want them to fall too far behind in the standings before we get it together again. Whether this is a good team or not is debatable, (and how each person defines what good is) but they have enough in place to make the playoffs if they do what they should. Wayyyy too many "shoulds" though in my post.

I think the BIG changes people want to see will happen this off season. If the price is right then we might see a big move at the trade deadline, but my money is on this off season.
