Doesn't Sudbury average 100inches a year? 30 in a day is a third of the annual total up there.

I was being silly 30in is a ton of snow, just about 100 miles south of me in Parry Sound(in an area called the snow belt) they get a ton of snow. They get the lake effect so they get those 30+inch snow falls quite often.

yes many, I was being factious

In al seriousness, this is supposed to be the biggest storm in D.C. history. They made the right call.

Reminds me of last year when the Sabres decided to play in a huge snowstorm, where the arena wasn't getting much snow, but 2-3 miles away they were getting hammered.

Even then it's different because blizzards are worse conditions than lake effect snow.

usually yes, however is some areas like Parry Sound the lake effect snow is combined with the high winds and you get storms similar to the one in DC a few times a year.
Also factoring in an area like DC doesn't get massive storms like this often its going to cause more chaos than in an area that gets more snow.

Still, this storm is projected to surpass the worst blizzard of all time for the DC area from 1922.

The difference is in Parry Sound and the rest of the snow belt you can just plow the snow off the road and into a ditch so people can still drive.

In a city like DC you've got to find a place to put all that plowed snow.

Not to mention I assume the 2 areas dedicate a very different amount of their yearly budgets on snow removal.

Cancelling the game was a good call imo.
