The top guys are probably totally gassed because we have to play them 30 minutes a night if we want to score a goal. At least Russia isn't in the tournament so Kuch can get some time off.

What you didn't like *checks notes* Sheary and Aitkinson?
both are full on dumpster fires

Let's see what happens when we are full strength.

IMHO, not enough sandpaper and another 1st round exit

Welcome to Pittsburgh

Kucherov played drunk every other touch. Really weird game by him as a whole.

I'm ready for Geekie to see the press box to cool off and watch some tape. Scratch Girgensons and audition somebody else from the crunch because you can't have a worse bottom six.
So either JBB and Cooper know what they are doing and we trust the process or we start throwing ish against the wall and hope it sticks? WHich is it?

PYup. We just have to be patient and suffer through this. Christ I need a drink. This game was effing terrible wasn't it?
The first period and change was great. After, not so much. Too many good chances missed for the 2nd night in a row, unfortunately. They still have 36 games left and some games in hand. Every team has rough patches, and January was always going to be rough bc of the schedule. They'll weather the storm and hopefully add where they need to. Getting Moser and Cernak back soon will also help immensely.

Did you make these?

I'll be blunt, not a Lightning fan, but these are incredible. Wow.

Scratching a rookie doesn't mean throwing shit against the wall and hoping it sticks. We've done that before, plenty of organizations have done that with young players. We did it with Sergachev if memory serves correctly. It gives them time to step back and realize they have more time on the puck. Thats not swimming upstream against the process, that's part of it. It's overdue for him.

Secondly, Girgensons is awful offensively. If he didn't finish checks and wasn't taller than Sheary, we would've complained weeks ago and wanted him off the team. The guy is vanilla. He's a 13th forward, that once again, isn't swimming upstream in the process if we bench for the sake of a call up. You can't do any worse right now than to make these two small moves internally. Let someone have a chance and hope they run with it, or at least, provide themselves as depth should we need it over Atkinson at the very least. The hope for Geekie is to help his development and scratching him for 1 or 2 games might be better at this point.

Just saw a stat this team is LAST in the NHL in points earned in division. Find a way to play the caps round one or pack your bags.
It's certainly not heart warming, but if anybody takes any stock in regular season statistics, they clearly don't remember the horror of 2019 or the embarrassment of Boston in 2022. Shit happens. Playoffs are entirely different and plenty of things can happen to tilt the ice.

With that said, I don't see us as clear favorites against Toronto, Florida, or Boston. I don't see us as favorites against any of them either. As the team stands today, we probably lose to Florida and Toronto, but who knows what Brisebois will do at the TDL.

We have the best GDT's on HF and @TheDaysOf 04 is the goat. Every season its different and every season its f***ing amazing.
Days is the best in the game, I feel spoiled when I wander over to other teams forums.
I may need to try to commission this talented human to make me a couple cards to sell as merch at my events! They're top quality, no doubt. You are a lucky bunch to be treated to these awesome GDTs!

Days is fantastic, a true inspiration to my attempts at making my own over the years. The sole reason I know when we play, too.

I think there is a little too much doom and gloom, yeah the team isn't playing well but at least on paper it should be an easier fix than most other teams. We have one of, if not the best core in the league and really only need one more top 6 player until we have a solid top 6 F and top 4 D. No real bad contracts and our team is built pretty evenly across all positions. With the cap rising and Tampa being a good destination and with lots of players signed to good long term deals I would expect the future of this team to look better than people think. This opinon could change a lot by the TDL though, I really think the future of the team will be heavily determined by this TDL and (hopefully not) during FA.

Yall are getting side tracked. Get back to picking up your torches and pitchforks! But thank you all for the kind words.

When it comes to the theme of the GDTs, I actually collected hockey cards when I was a kid. That was one of the few things that made me feel like an actual fan of this team long ago. I wanted Lightning stuff, but it just didn't exist in New Jersey stores. Today you just go on the internet and you can find and purchase pretty much anything with a Lightning logo on it. Garden gnomes, dog collars, can koozies, you name it. In the dark ages though the local malls and pro shops just weren't carrying anything from a small, losing, expansion hockey team located 1000 miles away. It was always a quest, but a hopeless one at times. But I began collecting hockey cards and that gave me a chance. You open a pack and maybe you'd get lucky. Finding a Klima card here or a Tucker one there was like striking gold. I'm not sure how popular cards are today, but I still have fond memories of them.
